Season starts Friday, Sept. 4th at Bowling Green for both squads. Women are ranked 9th in the Great Lakes region preseason rankings. As of early Tuesday morning that doesn't seem to be mentioned on the UT site (rankings were just released in the last day or two).

UT men aren't ranked in the top 15 of the region. Here's a link to the rankings -

men's schedule here -

women's here (men's and women's schedules appear to be identical, but I might have missed something)

Women will be interesting: they lost maybe the best senior class ever and the people behind them were largely putting up mediocre times. But several underclass men stepped it up in track. Not sure who the newcomers are but we have a transfer who was AA at Ashland who should be competing for the top spot. Sorry for no names, etc- this is a quick, off-the-top-of-my-head analysis.
MAC coaches predict that the UT women's squad will win the conference title. Men projected to finish eighth.

Team scores weren't kept in Friday's meet at BG. Here are links to the stories on the UT site:

men's meet, where a UT runner finished first and the Rockets had 5 finish in the top 10 -

women's meet, where the best UT runner finished seventh. And former Rockets seemed to do quite well -

Up next for the Rockets: University of Buffalo's Stampede Invitational on September 12th. 5000 meters for the women, 8000 meters for the men.

If you're interested, here's more info about that. From Buffalo's website -

Hillary Sarem won for the Rockets. This Hillary is a guy, which is too bad. Women could use him. Poor times and poor spacing with 30 seconds between # 1 and #2 Rocket runners. Not a MAC Champ squad at this point. We used to run just our freshmen and non-starters in this meet and sweep the top 5 places.
UT's Hillary Serem MAC men's co-runner of the week.

Women's squad 3rd, men's squad 4th at the UB Stampede. That's out of seven schools, including Division III Fredonia.

After being off for a few weeks, Rocket men and women are in Louisville on Saturday.

UT men finish 7th (out of 36 schools) in Louisville.

Women 19th out of 30 schools

Wow. Cats chasing dogs, sun rising in the west, Congressmen doing the people's will. Everything is weird- men doing well, women REALLY struggling.
The men look like they are decently improved with 5th year senior Serem and a new Kenyan transfer from Liberty. But this 7th place finish was in the non-seeded race. Not really that impressive from the looks of things.

The women are a mystery. Top-15 program 3 years ago with all freshmen and sophomores. Now barely a contender to win MAC. Also virtually no track athletes that can score at the conference meet when they were MAC Runner-up indoor and outdoor three years ago.

Hope they turn it around.
News from Wisconsin Adidas meet:

Toledo women finished dead last in 36th place of 36 teams. The FIRST Rocket female to cross the finish line was 192nd place (There was only 245 women in the race). Of the last 53 women in the race, all 7 Rockets were a part of them.

I don't know if we are even capable of finishing in the top half of the MAC.

Hopefully the men do better.
"I'm pleased with the way our women ran today"

Blaming on how young they are?

That 2012 team was ranked #15 in country with all freshmen and sophomores. Hadsell had his faults. But the guy coached and recruited and developed. Never made excuses and owned up when he screwed up.

I'm with H2O on this one. Our top non revs of soccer, cc, track and swimming are in pathetic shape.

Oh. And my kids are crying and my wife is complaining. Yep. That's my day today.

At least we have volleyball.
If the coach is satisfied with that performance, maybe he should move on. #^$&#^@ Hadsell, why couldn't you behave yourself?!
I think Coach has said that after every meet. The guy had a good record at his last stop but he better step it up here.

I agree. Coach Hadsell had the life. I hate that he messed it up. If he would have just been more in control of his own emotions and been ethical, we would still have of of the top programs in the country and one of the top advocates and promoters of UT we have ever seen.

Despite being cleared of all the false allegations, he still screwed up and I hope he feels bad about that. Seems like he has an amazing acting career but I wonder if he misses all this...

Toledo women not ranked in the region Top-15 for the first time in probably at least ten years or maybe even 15 years. Latest rankings out this week. EMU, BUGS, CMU, OU, WMU and MIAMI are all ranked with BUFF ranked in their region. That puts the Rocket women at about 8th in the MAC. Complete collapse.

H2O......what the heck?
