Army of people installing plastic black chair backs for season ticket holders.
Question: Why would you spend money on the new red seat covers only to cover them up with the black chair backs? Money saved there could have purchased something to cover up the butt ugly south end of the west pavilion!
There's always something to complain about isn't there....what do you mean when you say west pavilion?
The New structure next to TUC. The south end by CCM is just an open stair well. Some things had to change from the original plans, like shortening the outside deck on that end. Thought they'd come up with something to cover that end. A tarp with a large cpaw, Bearcat image, or UC logo pulled tight, like you see on some the semi-trailer trucks would look better.

Have you checked out the bathroom vent on Bearcat Plaza? Corrigated metal ditch liner stood on end. I thought Crosley Tower couldn't be topped. Hopefully they've got something else planned to cover it better?

UC administrators have never been accused of being rocket scientists in the long history of the UNIV. OF CINCINNATI. Most of us have learned to live with that fact.
Looks like it was a major project today. Don't know how durable or comfortable they are; but it would be great if someday most of the benches had them.

I thought the south end of the new structure was a bit of a weird design feature as well when I went to the games Friday night. Never noticed it on the videos and pics but when you sit on the eastside you can't help but notice it. Sticks out. Only thing I can think of is that it was designed to be more easily added onto at some point if need arises to extend.

I will throw out a bunch of if's that we hope happen. If the success and interest in the program grows and if we get the P5 invitation then how many seats could still feasibly be added to Nippert 5k, 10k or 15k. The south end is the only logical location and as mentioned the end of the new structure by CCM appears to beg to be added onto someday. The drawback is how much of the charm of Nippert would be lost if further
expansion limits views of campus buildings.
I could almost see a crazy second deck over the rec center in the north end. That is just so much open air space that is completely unutilized. They'd have to get creative.

Went to the games last night and the black seats are TERRIBLE! Just like the old black seat cushions, they take away about 2" of leg room and make it impossible for an average height person to sit there comfortably. I'm 6'3" and the only way for me to sit in those seats is to rest my feet on the seat in front of me. If somebody is sitting there, I'mSOL

They threw on a huge concrete Soviet era looking staircase structure on the end closest to CCM. it's pretty big and there is no detail on it at all. They may have been able to do that better. Just my .02.

Is it possible that gets closed in after all the work in the suites is finished?

yeah...maybe it's just not finished yet. Sounds like there are a few things that still need completed (mostly touch up/cosmetic stuff).
It's already closed in. It's sort of a concrete box that hangs off the south end. Does not look like it's organically part of the building to my untrained eye. I am sure architects may say they went with low detail to keep the eyes drawn to the main structure, though.
Isn't that the President's Patio?

I think it's perfectly fine to critique the architecture and other fine points of the new Nippert. The university spent $1B+ revamping the campus, paying high-profile architects to make UC a destination school. The architecture school is one of the nation's better ones. UC has gained a lot of notoriety as being one of the "nation's most beautiful."

So when UC spends almost $90M building a massive structure on top of an historic stadium, it's fair game, as is the rest of campus.

Which brings me to openly wonder why Wilson Auditorium was torn down, then replaced with ugly, gray trailors by the campus front steps. Seriously. I brought guests in from out of town and randomly drove in from Jefferson near the newer low-rise dorms and there were more of these trailors. One of the first comments out of my guest's mouth was, "this isn't very pretty."

Of course, she's thinking "Stanford" which is definitely one of the prettiest. I don't remember ever seeing any trailors anywhere on Stanford's campus, much less just to the left of it's "front lawn."

As far as Nippert goes, my opinion of the new addition varies based on the angle of the view. From some angles, it looks really cool; from other angles it looks like this weird add-on that doesn't mesh with the rest of the historic structure, but that's just my initial, gut reaction.

I'm on the tall side as well, so last year I moved down about 5 rows to provide just a little bit of extra space for my legs. As you know, Nippert's slope decreases the closer to the field the seats are. I don't know how much extra space I got - 1/2"-1" maybe - but it made a world of difference.

Wilson Aud. was basically "forgotten" for years and only used by CCM theater arts. CCM consolidated all to their major location. The portables were placed in there to be temporary classrooms while Dyer(Pharmacy) Hall is being redone. Too bad there isn't a construction cam for it, because it is a major project. They've gutted all the floors and are making a major entrance into Dyer looking straight into the quad from the Pavilion building. The other portables by Dabney/Daniels might be more permanent.

Um, trailers are temporary until more permanent facilities are completed. Please apologize to your guests that we are unable to complete building projects at UC in a week. Jeesh. Actually pretty deuchbaggery of them to say.
Don't understand the fuss about the trailers or the comparison to Stanford. UC is an urban university, land locked in the middle of a city with no real options to conveniently and aesthetically do major construction projects. You may as well complain that the road upgrades on I75 has ugly orange barrels that should be hidden somewhere during construction.
