Looking forward to the game today on ESPN. NDSU favored by 15-1/2. Brent Musburger on the call. I will take the Griz and the points.
Should be a fun game to watch, I think it's going to be close! More importantly, college football is back!
I'm excited to watch this game live today. It has the potential to be a good game. No way ndsu wins by 15+. I have to pick them just because they never lose, but it'll be a 7 point game.
It's smoky in Missoula and could affect visibility and air quality.
As long as we are in FCS, which I hope won't be long, we should be a featured school in a kickoff game or other highlighted game during the year. We will be a top 5 program this year and that should help get us back in the discussion.

That would require us to play an OOC opponent not named Morehead St., St Francis, Central Connecticut St., etc.
Wow. Montana getting 15 1/2 at home. The first game of the year is always the hardest to predict, but I will be very surprised if Montana gets blown out at home.
Nothing in the MVC compares to the Grizzlies home field advantage.

The CAA is likely blacklisted by ESPN too because of the nbcsn TV deal. I can't recall ESPN voluntarily airing any home games of CAA football or basketball teams since.
Hoping that Montana can pull out the win. I want to see that guy from School of Mines do well at this level, and rooting for NDSU is like rooting for the Empire to win at this point. Four straight is enough, time for someone new.

They were smacked around pretty good by the University of Northern Iowa last year, losing 23 -3.

Easily the best 1AA possible to start the season with.

While I like this, I wish the 1AA championship was the Sunday night before the 1A Monday night championship. I think it would get way more viewers.

(Of course I throw up a little having to care about 1AA at all 03-puke )

Don't overlook only 3 losses over the last 4 seasons. They don't lose....VERY rarely.

They are good, no doubt about it. I just don't want anyone to think that we cannot beat them because we can, Montana can, as well just about everyone in the top 15 can on the right day. I don't thing UNI was in the top 15 when they took it to them last year.
The current JMU team has absolutely no shot at beating the current ndsu team. That's hilarious.
We couldn't even beat Liberty.

I get your position & logic, but disagree about the statement. I absolutely believe we could hang with NDSU this year, based on our most recent encounter in the playoffs & what I perceive to be a stronger overall team now.
Our defense would have to have improved by about ten times over what we saw last season just to be competitive in the game. Vad's passing accuracy would need to be better. The O line would need to actually block more often then not, etc.
Last year's team, which is all that we have to go off of as of today, would've been blown out by last year's ndsu team.
You all are letting your bias cloud reality in this scenario.

Yeah - I agree with you. Every year is a new year, but at this point these is nothing that lead me to believe we could compete with NDSU. Maybe things will change for NDSU and JMU this year, but based on last year no way. NDSU is a 15 point favorite at Montana so you can see how good must people feel they are.

If Vad goes down this year - good lord....

You could say that about 90% of starting QBs for 90% of teams at any level of football. I have not really seen Schor play at all myself but my understanding is he had a good camp. If Vad would go down for the year, yeah that might be lights out. But if it's a game or two, it sounds like Schor is capable of coming in and winning.

I hear you on this one. Those games are scheduled 5-6 years out. We can't even buy these games out because it's the highlight of the year for these teams and there is not much we can do right now. It is my understanding that the OOC opponents will be different in the future. My hope was not that of this would really matter since we should have been in FBS by now and we would have rescheduled these teams as the FCS opponent as part of our 12 team schedule.
I hope all you guys who want us to continue to play these cupcakes are watching this. To heck with the playoffs, give me regular season games like this.
