...is directly across from the BG stadium. They have two tip jars. One has the OSU logo painted on it, the other U of M. Asked the counter guy why no BG? He just laughed. This is not a knock on BG. Just a sad commentary on MAC schools and bandwagon fans. BTW, I did not leave a tip.
BGSU Starbucks. Just an overpriced way of saying

BGSU Starbucks

That is not a knock on Starbucks.
Made my day

No. The BGSU Starbucks is in the Bowen-Thompson Student Union on the BGSU campus.

There are two other Starbucks in Bowling Green - one across from the Doyt which H2O found at the other at the Kroger on N. Main St.

Semantics. My guess is the majority of the customers at the only freestanding Starbucks spot in town are affiliated somehow with the university. If I was affiliated with BGSU I'd be on the horn to management and tell them what I thought of their "support".

He posts as if he was insulted by the thread. Seems a communty service to me. Who butters the bread of that shop? OSU? Mich? or BGSU? I can forgive management of the place promoting using knee-jerks but jeez, BOTH local uni's need to be looking out for these opportunities.

A sad commentary, indeed. Could easily happen and/or is already happening at Starbucks locations in Toledo.
Many Starbucks stores across the USA (and beyond, most likely) have big, framed photo/posters on their walls showing burlap sacks of coffee beans being weighed by large mechanical devices that very distinctly are Toledo scales. Pretty cool promo if you asked me.

No doubt and certainly not unique to Starbucks. There's a carwash out Bancroft with two bays, one marked Michigan, one OSU.

I'd have to give that to them as fair.

For a local business to exclude, or better description is probably "not be mindful to include" UofToledo in it's promotions is different than playing up a rivalry UT-BG which for most people I don't think exists unless they went to either school versus one that does, OSU-Mich.

There are certain situations in which I think it is odd, where the employees are predominantly UT and BG grads yet they neglect the UT-BG and play up the OSU-Mich. That seems to me a case of insecurity.

Yeah, it's not the same as the BG thing but it still irks me. If I ever washed my cars it wouldn't be there.

Can't see myself hitting either one of those drive-throughs either.
Saw this in Barcelona actually and beemed with pride.

Quote:In 1975, Reliance announced that Toledo Scale's headquarters would be moved to Columbus, leaving only one small department physically located in Toledo. DiVincenzo retired soon thereafter.

Management changed frequently after DiVincenzo's retirement. The company pulled out of the food machine business. Reliance sold the Haughton Elevator Division, and in 1979 the Exxon Oil Company purchased Reliance. Exxon restructured the company once again, and many more changes in management were made. Reliance sold the Telegraph Road plant to Willis Day Properties, but rented a small part of the facility where it continued to make mechanical scales and parts for electronic scales.

In 1984, Reliance decided to close the Toledo operations completely, and lay off the employees who were still left there. On July 7, 1985, a fire completely destroyed the Telegraph Road plant. In 1986 Reliance became independent from Exxon through a leveraged buy-out, and in 1989 it sold the Toledo Scale Division to Ciba Geigy. Ciba Geigy merged Toledo Scale with another of its companies, Mettler Instrumente AG, a manufacturer of laboratory balances. The merger vastly increased the global scope of the company, which, as a result, operated in 18 countries. In 1992, the name was officially changed to Mettler Toledo, Inc. Then, in 1996, Ciba-Geigy sold Mettler Toledo to AEA Investors, a group of investors located in New York City. The name was changed once again to Mettler Toledo International, Inc. The company's new headquarters were located in Polaris, Ohio, a suburb of Columbus. In 1997, AEA took the company public, and today its shares are listed on the New York Stock Exchange with the symbol MTD.
