Actually, it's NOT their house. Which is why they pay rent.

This isn't hard.

The SJW's need to get over it. If anything this is a good teaching opportunity for the daughters. Who honestly thinks these guys are trying to say they want to assault any of those women?

Bingo

I just asked a question. If it's not theirs who's is it? What are the rules for living there? If it's not their house do they not have a right to free speech? Who turned this into a threat? It's obviously a joke.
No joke Sigma Nu fraternity has been suspended. Aim HI.
I still fail to see where they did anything illegal or not constitutionally protected.

Poor taste? Absolutely.

But if you start punishing taste, you go down a very slippery slope.

It's become a huge topic here, so I'm more sensitive about it. No apologies, just my reason for feeling how I do. There's no room for it on any college campus.

Again, educate yourself: Watch The Hunting Ground.

The Hunting Ground has been exposed as about 30% true. That is 30% too much, but educating one's self should not mean "watch this piece of one sided propaganda and then agree with me, please."

Not sure where you got the 30% figure. I know there have been criticisms of the way they portrayed the Harvard Law "rape" case. It's also true that something like 150 colleges and universities -- not sure if ODU is on the list -- are under investigation by the federal gov't for the way they handle harassment and assault cases. . . . And I could not care less whether or not you agree with me. The point was to expose people to some info they might have been unaware of. . . . Like others, I'm finished here.
The problem is most of it is not really "info", just made up stories that further an agenda without regard for the innocent victims they are creating in the process.

I wouldn't want to drive up on move-in day with my parents in the car seeing those posters. To the men on this board- do you want to be in the car with your daughter and/or wife in the car seeing it? You need to at least appreciate the perspective of the parents and the young freshman girl.

These college students not construction workers or sailors outside of a bar. More should be expected of them. If this type of banner was INSIDE a fraternity house or private residence the difference is the offended party can exit the property.

I am not a prude and have lived thru gross and offending frat boy stuff but the locale and situation calls for more decorum. That's one female's take on this.
The boys are going to want to have sex with my daughter, sign or not. That is biology. I'm more worried about protecting my son's ability to do harmless, but stupid things without being compared to a rapist.

If you are more concerned about your son having the right to do harmless and stupid things, then you are for your daughter to not be objectified as nothing but a sex object, I seriously hope that your daughter grows up to be a strong female who values herself.

Your argument fell flat at the "NOTHING BUT a sex object" line. It is possible to be a sex object and also be more than a sex object. Having men be attracted to a woman does not negate all other aspects of a woman. It is, in fact, your thinking that degrades women--not EverRespect's. Ignoring a woman's beauty to respect her mind or whatever else you want to respect proves how limited your thinking is. You should respect and admire all aspects of women. Most women take great pride in their appearance and they'd appreciate you noticing. They'd also like you to notice 1,000,000 other things about them as well.

Hope this helps.
What was said on the sheets was tasteless and ODU absolutely needed to state, "This isn't acceptable." We have numerous campus programs decided to reducing sexual assault and the message on those sheets doesn't contribute to that goal.

Just like others, I think social media has contributed to a 'mob mentality' and its effects are extremely scary. This should of been something like, "Take down those sheets! Do you think that's a good way to introduce new students to ODU? Do you think this helps or hurts our campus initiatives to reduce sexual assault?" Then, tell the fraternity brothers to spend a day or two volunteering at the YWCA (which is about three blocks from campus) and get some real life experience from women who have been assaulted.

Instead, it has been picked up as the 'next big thing' and ODU and the national fraternity had to react more sternly or risk being seen as soft. Given what actually happened, ODU admin did the correct thing.

I feel like I'm in the twilight zone here.. wasn't the girls sign even worse???
All over the news, now showing on HLN Morning Express along with the OSU. Great way to REP ODU.
I remember a marketing professor at ODU telling me there is no such thing as bad publicity. I wonder what he thinks now? 04-jawdrop
No way we're shedding that "party school" label anytime soon now.

They don't want to just punish bad taste, they want to punish thought. But the thoughts they want to punish are their own. Conjured out of their own minds. There is nothing to indicate that the perpetrators were thinking about bullying or rape. They weren't dragging girls off the street. It's doubtful they were thinking at all other than trying to be outrageous. And when that happens you pull those at fault aside and indicate firmly the error of their ways rather than turn it into an international cause célèbre .
please explain to me how those signs are worse than a girls sign telling the freshman boys to pull out, and that megan DOES BUTT STUFF
I think to most people, the signs simply imply the kids were excited for good times and meeting new people. There are two types of people that are "offended". Unattractive women that won't get the opportunity to participate because the guys won't be interested and beta male orbiters that think feigning outrage will score them bonus points. You can see it right down to the profile pics on social media commentary. It is more a product of envy than real outrage. Now that they have been invited in, they won't stop until these kids are kicked out of school. Now Broderick has to decide if he is going to kick these kids out and eat the legal/settlement costs or if he is going to have his campus overrun by mobs of unattractive women donning facial piercings, asymmetrical hairdos dyed unnatural colors, hairy armpits, and tramp stamps. It is a lose-lose.

Although in the same vein somehow these aren't as offensive to me, more playful. I think the ODU sign on the far left referring to "your baby girl" just makes it more crass and less funny.
