Probably good time to say I'm back covering UAB football/hoops. Still also covering Alabama/Auburn/in-state FB recruiting, that won't change
What happened (if anything) to Eastwick?

He is still here, helping Drew with recruiting, and writing some for Preps, etc.
This sucks. How am I going to follow Drew on twitter without learning about Alabama/Auburn football recruiting?

He really needs two accounts
This Marino guy has incredible speed for his size and strength. Looks like a great commitment.
Impressive. The high school that he is from is a regional power. Clark continues to show he knows how to search every nook and cranny to find talent no one else is looking at around here. Impressive stuff.

How is it that 1 football team = barely getting coverage in the local newspaper, and no football team= 2 beat writers?
Not two beatwriters. Two part-timers.
Very glad to have Drew back.

I'm not knocking what Clark is doing, but we are getting some guys with checkered pasts. We will have two years to see if they can live up to his expectations. I'll take some troubled talent if we can get back and competitive early.

If football is back in 2017, the whole program will have a checkered past.
checkered past is better than checkered future.
People are human. They make mistakes. Everyone deserves a second chance. If they bork up that second chance, then all bets are off.
A benefit of the two-year wait is that a player getting a 2nd chance has time to show (or not) that he deserves one...

In sports, the number of second chances someone gets is directly related to how good they are at that sport.
& maybe to some extent how good the coach is at directing them on the right path.

This situation was not of the coach's making however they are having to make the best out of it they can.

One indication that things were pretty clean was that you didn't hear of any incidents from the players last season.

Will be interesting to see how things go with some players with not so squeaky pasts.
There were plenty of players on last year's squad under Clark that had significant histories of bad behavior in a number of respects, and I didn't hear of anything coming of it. However, most of the problems were well into the past by the time they were on the team.

That's a major benefit. And if these guys screw up, it doesn't hurt the team mid season. I am all for giving guys second chances by the way, just noting what's going on right now.
Sometimes it depends on what they did.

Killing someone probably doesn't deserve a 2nd chance.
