Wilder had mentioned that the current roster is unbalanced because of all the players that had left the program that would have been Seniors this year. I was interested in compiling a list, so I compared our roster against the 2013 version. Interesting to see all of the names of players that left without graduating. I wonder how this reflects on the team's academic standing?

2 Kirk Spellman WR
7 Rashawn Proctor WR
19 Akil Jones CB
29 Corey Taylor DB
34 Johnel Anderson RB
35 Larry Alston III LB
37 Harvey Taylor RB
40 T.J. Armstrong LB
43 Caleb Taylor LB
45 Rob Mahan LB
48 Julien Randolph LB
50 Jacob Green DT
62 Shane Palmateer LS
68 Andrew Maddox OL
72 Kyle Lawrence K
82 Phillip Dickens CB
84 Connor Martin TE
86 Mike Lennox LB
91 Andrew Everett DE
93 Anderson Miller DE
97 Darius Wilkins DE
99 Kanyia Anderson DE
Pulisic is still on the team, I think.

As for academic standing, the impact depends on the GPAs of the guys when they left.

Good call. I updated the list thanks.
I'm not too concerned. You're going to have a lot of turnover when you jump levels. A lot of these guys left for playing time or quit football altogether, meaning they left in good academic standing. While we have had quite a few dismissed, you have a lot more room for error in football due purely to the roster size. And a few of those guys ended up at other schools, meaning they will still probably graduate and not negatively impact our APR.
Pretty sure some of those guys graduated.

I agree. I don't think its a concern. The talent that the coaches have brought in is drastically better. It is crazy the amount of turnover that has happened. I think its normal for college football, I just have never followed a team as closely as I have ODU.

Mike Lennox graduated early.
That's a ton of LBs and DEs.

Yes, but less than a few pounds of tackling.
These are mostly guys that were recruited when we were FCS and weren't good enough to make the transition. Doubt it has much to do with academic standing.
NSU and Hampton have benefited from ODU transfers.

Sandy Chapman transferred to NSU.

VA PILOT "It's more relaxed here," Chapman said. "It's more like a family environment, I guess you could say."

Most likely true we have " Great Expectations".

Didn't he say the same thing as to why he chose ODU; that it had a family environment. I guess ODU had sticker family rules and like any GOOD parent when you break them you get punish.

Those answers from a recruit when asked about why he chose school x always remind me of that scene in "Bull Durham" where Crash is teaching Nuke LaLoosh all of the baseball cliches...

LOL. There was a moment on last night's episode of Hard Knocks where Bill O'Brien assists his team on dealing with tough questions from the media, he then quizzed his team and no matter what the question was the answer was pretty much the same. Essentially "I'm working hard to improve every day".

I would be remiss to not include this great skit from Key and Peele;

Exactly don't read too much into it, I'm sure not much thought is generally given.

There is coach speak and player speak and they are very similar.

And what exactly did Chapman do? I don't recall there being any news releases regarding him being a trouble maker.

Truth is not one person on this board knows what really goes on in the football locker room unless they are a member (or former member) of the team.

See article Dated Jan 16,2015 Substitute QB Colin McElroy will transfer from ODU to FCS School - Sandy Chapman, a sophomore cornerback from Raleigh who was a part-time starter, was dismissed after violating team rules, Wilder said. It is unknown whether Chapman will transfer elsewhere.
Whatever happened to that guy who transferred from MTSU. His dad used to post on the boards sometimes and the kid was supposed to be decent.

If I recall correctly, something happened and I think he was gone before his first season would have started.
