JF apparently endorses Lynch's running. It tends to increase the risk of injury and we have no proven QB depth. OTHO, JF is well aware of the risks and thus the reward must out weigh the risk or he would severely limit or eliminate planned runs for Lynch. I trust JF's judgement.
According to the last article I've read on him, Lynch has really bulked up since last season with running the ball in mind. Sounds like they have a plan to keep him as safe as he can be.
His being able to run is very important to our offense.
A lot of our scheme is predicated on at least the threat of him taking off.
As long as he knows when to take a hit and when not to. It's an important part of our offense.
We have a senior as a backup and Brady Davis who we could remove the redshirt. Let Lynch be the best college player he can be. For him to be that guy he will have to use his legs often.

Our running game should be amazing. Hopefully, Lynch won't run as much in short yardage situations.
He is more likely to get hurt from a blind side sack than a run. I can't think of too many times last year he took hard hits from a run. At 6'7 245 and apparently much stronger than last year he can hold his own. He is very deceptive on the move.
Still, no QB should take too many shots. Slip and slide is a QBs best friend.

It is part of his talent as a QB. Making him a pure drop-back passer would limit his effectiveness. I worry about injury too, but the coaching staff will do what is best for the team. I have no fear that they don't know what they are doing.
You have to believe in what Fuente is doing here. I would have thought that last year got rid of most of the second-guessers. Evidently not.

Depends on the situation and importance - For two seasons I consistently watched Florida State consistently give up easy 10 yard runs by Jameis Winston not leaving the pocket when the middle was wide open - who knows if it was his decision or the coaches - but if you're playing smart football then you have to have some risk as well.
It opens up the game for us especially inside the red zone. (More so inside the 10) Him running is critical.

It was critical last year when we were down to Hayes and Cooper. The offense should be even better this year, especially the run game. The threat of him running and picking his spots should be enough. The actual running backs should be able to cause a lot more damage.

We had posters that blamed JF for keeping Ifedi in the game when he got hurt. JF kept Lynch on the field during blowouts, so there will always be that risk.
I will blame him for sure if Lynch gets hurt running in the 4th quarter of a game we are leading by 3 touchdowns.

Yep - Ifedi got hurt against Austin Peay in the 3rd quarter. Don't know the score when it happened, but it was 42-0 at half.

Sure the run game should be better. It doesn't mean it still won't be critical for Lynch to run. Especially inside the 10 when the defense can put 7-8 in the box and cover our WR's 1 on 1 that close to the goal line.
When you're getting blitzed and the box is stacked sometimes the best thing you can do is tuck it and run. Which is what he did. Lynch didn't have 50 yard touchdown runs. Even when we had Dorceus he ran the ball.
Lynch is by no means a typical "Running QB". However, he can find holes and squeak his way through when needed which is important to the offense and he's good at it. I don't want him to avg 10-12 carries a game for sure, but a solid 4-6 carries when needed and when nothing else is there I won't complain about.

Yeah, he could have pulled him out, but you don't know why he was left in the game. In tune up games, that you specifically schedule to be tune up games, teams often try different things out on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. Nothing wrong with it. Stuff happens, it's sports.
Yeah it sucks he got hurt, but injuries happen every game. It's football. Not a pillow fight.

As he should have been. Sometimes you take risks, even unnecessary ones, and have to live with it. At least he didn't get on the post game and blame The fans and tell everyone AP is a great team.
