With reverence to paintedblue for the original thread on the general board:

"A nice piece of scheduling. The Monarchs will be in a much better position to compete this time around. First game in Norfolk in 2017, return game in CH in 2020.

Our staff is doing a great job with scheduling!!!
Amazed they're coming here in 17, and we there in 20. thought it would be the other way around.
I'm shocked they'd come here first. Not sure why they made that decision instead of waiting of the new stadium, but i'm stoked! Hopefully we don't end the game early this time. 04-jawdrop
I pulled the following from fbsschedules.com. We play two ACC teams in 2017 (UNC @ Foreman Field and @VA Tech) and again in 2020 (@VA Tech and Wake Forest @ Home). Is this great or what? I love it!

2017
09/09 - at UMass
09/16 - North Carolina
09/23 - at Virginia Tech

2018
09/22 - Virginia Tech
TBA - VMI

2019
09/07 - at Virginia Tech
09/14 - Buffalo
TBA - Idaho

2020
09/12 - at Buffalo
09/19 - Wake Forest
09/26 - at North Carolina
This is a good series. Wake, Tech, UNC, NC State all on the schedule. Hopefully we can get Maryland and UVA on the schedule.
Just shows how many programs value bringing action to #757. This has got to help our recruiting profile going forward. If we only had a stadium built, we'd really be blowing up right now.
Should also quell some of that chatter down in Greenville that ODU can't quickly get up on that level. I'll take visitors from Chapel Hill, Blacksburg, and Winston-Salem all day long. And it didn't take 60 years of football to get it done either.

Just wait until more local players start wanting to play together to rep the 757.

This is great news. Whomever is doing our scheduling is really doing a good job.
Great Job Bruce Stewart!!! COGS
Won't UNC still be under their "Death Penalty" in 2017? 05-stirthepot

Thank you, but as Wayne Campbell would say.. "I'm not worthy." LOL

It looks like more big news coming soon regarding the new CUSA TV contract!

Did you even go to Chapel Hill and see the first game we had with them?
We basically had no defense. We were plagued with injuries.
We should be in a much better position in 2017 to play them. We will have 3 FBS recruiting classes.
We will be competitive with them in '17, but should some absolutely horrible go wrong I have three words for Bobby...Continuous Running Clock.

That is something this team will never, ever again have to contemplate, and here's my three words -- Depend on it!

The toughest part is playing UNC and VT back to back. It would be nice if we had our FCS game in between so our guys could heal up. Gotta take an ACC team at home when you can though. We should be good that year at least. We'll definitely need to win at UMass and schedule a FCS cupcake in case we drop both UNC and VT.

That will be good for Old Dominion. Having back to back P5 teams is how you get better. You don't get better facing FAU, Hampton and Eastern Michigan, you get better by facing UNC, La Tech, Marshall and VT. If they start improving, soon a P5 invitation could land our way. We'll get used to it! That also helps recruiting.
