DAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYUM
Bumpity
Again, Stewart is a tool.
prepare for the butthurt comments from the Stewart glee club.
ReasonTV? No thanks...sounds like teaparty butthurt to me
Just a "butthurt" Jon Stewert fan here, but good lord that video was all over the place. The first clip was a nice "gotcha" moment regarding his comment about vaccines in an interview from 10 years ago. The rest is just a bunch convoluted nonsense.

He criticized the shameful backlog in the VA hospitals, so he's a hypocrite for supporting the affordable care act? He made fun of the way Obama worded a tax hike, so he's a hypocrite for believing in a tax increase for the wealthy? Im still not sure what point they are trying to make with that last one. Something about government regulations of soda and weed, tied to the Eric Garner case? That was like trying to decipher the ramblings of a stoned 19 year old who's not nearly as smart as he thinks he is.

Can you explain what I'm missing? I admit I'm a Jon Stewart fan, but he's not above criticism. I'm more "butthurt" over the rambling, disjointed nature of that video then I am over Jon Stewart getting criticized. The thread title made it seem like some kind of epic burn was eminent, and I was disappointed. Weak effort.

I'd love for you to explain to me where I'm wrong. Or you can contribute some more witty one liners about how "butthurt" I am?

I think that explains it all. I expect one's perception of the video depends largely on the viewpoint you bring to it.

I will say that I think the video suffers a bit because it appears whoever put it together was trying to fit within a time block, and stuff kind of got shortened to the point that it was somewhat disjointed. Longer sequences might have made things clearer.

I mean, it certainly sounds like someone is butthurt.

I think his intial response deserves more than this from you Owl. The video is all over the place, and makes leaps in logic that don't make any sense. Criticize Stewart all you want, by all means do so, but don't just agree with a nonsensical video which connects all sorts of random issues together as if they're valid complaints.
I understand number 5.

The rest seems like it is trying to compare different ideas, and using that to draw a conclusion that isn't there, especially number 1. He mentioned big brother, and talks about how eric garner would have gotten messed up no matter what he was doing. i don't really see a correlation there. Somebody feel like doing a better explanation of 4-1 than the video did?

I don't. But I will appease.

The video is parodying the same style as Stewart. That's pretty much exactly what he does--pull a bunch of events out of context and try to connect the dots. As I said, I think the video would make more sense if it were expanded to provide more context (I thought the tax one was particularly poorly done), but that's not Stewart's style (and I would level the same criticism at him) and I think that's what the video was trying to emulate.

I think the video strikes someone who agrees with Stewart's ideology basically the same way as Stewart strikes someone who disagrees. And vice versa.

I will give Stewart credit for one thing. He has treated Ron Paul better than Fox did--or anyone else. And Ron likes Stewart and enjoys doing the show.
so basically, they tried to copy john stewart, and failed. gotcha

They appear to have failed with those who have one ideological perspective, and appear to have succeeded with many of those who have a different ideological perspective. Pretty much like Stewart succeeds with those who have one ideological perspective and fails with those who have a different ideological perspective. We tend to like what we agree with and dislike what we disagree with.

I guess my ideological perspective is thinking for myself and not blindly following one side or the other.
I have often found Stewart...like that dick Bill Maher entertaining. That does not mean that I do not see that both of them are Liberal hacks.

As is mine, demonstrably and repeatedly in these pages.

Well, the people who can't reason read/watch reason.

No. There is no reasoning in Reason so I am sure that it was unreasonable.
