Not really new info, but a new article:

So are we now talking about a new scoreboard AND a new video board, or am I getting confused?
No one is installing $1mil "scoreboards" anymore... it's all multiuse video boards from here on out.
Will the sound be on the same end as the video board?
My give a damn is busted. I quit looking at it other than to see if the triangle is there from time to time.
I won't support it unless the triangle is superimposed during UAB events.
The City of Birmingham would be better off investing one million dollars towards construction of a new football stadium on UAB Campus than to spend a million dollars for a scoreboard in a hundred year old relic of a stadium way the heck out in West End.

Dude. I absolutely agree with you in principle, but please stop with the silly hyperbole.

Legion Field is a mere 88 years old, and 2 miles from campus. A healthy person could walk it in under 45 minutes. 03-lol

As much as I hate stereotypes, you might begin the walk healthy, but there is no guarantee you will end it in the same condition.03-shhhh

Walking on the South Side has not been real safe these days huh?
The City of B'ham would rather be spending $1 million on starting to build a new MPF, but that choice is not on the table. If UAB puts up the needed money for their OCS, I would think the city would add a million to the pot to help it along toward completion. The OCS is a university project and is their responsibility to finance. The city needs a convention center that will bring in outside tax revenue like the GA Dome does hundreds of times every year plus several sports activities as well.
The city should fork out that much for the upgrade just for the Magic City Classic game.

So the scoreboard/ videoboard projects are just different names for the same thing? Are we talking about a screen where the current scoreboard is AND a videoboard for the other side too? Terminology is making my eyes cross.

Our current scoreboard somehow has a still image screen that does not play videos.

The City of Birmingham can't invest in a project that doesn't exist yet.
Hopefully this video board is a lot better than the hand me down that was there the last few seasons.
