No. He doesn't.
LOL
That's above his pay grade.
On the other hand, if Saban said let me play UAB or I walk, how fast would a game be scheduled.

Not that that would ever happen.
Of course he does. At this point, Saban could probably dictate the schedule of other programs at Alabama if he felt up to doing it. I believe that he probably doesn't mind, but he just doesn't want to bother dealing with all the drama and crying that would come from the hardliners.
agree on that plus given what has happened don't think it'd do either program any good to play any time in the next decade as emotions are raw & will be for some time to come. if the program had never been axed, I'd say we could've given them a run for their money in a few yrs if they didn't stack the deck against us

I don't think it's 'above his pay grade' considering he's the highest paid employee in the entire system.. Saban couldn't care less if he plays UAB, USM, FAU, or whoever. Remember, he's not from this state and doesn't have a heart for the other teams in this state (UAB, Troy, South)
I'm sure he thought Ray Watts and the BoT screwed over a good coach and decent football players. Even if we don't like his recruiting practices, we make no dent in his circumstance in Tuscaloosa whatsover so there is nothing conflicting for him to pity us. I'm sure his time in the office with Bill Clark was sincere, and the hang-up from Bryant Jr real.

That said, I don't think playing UAT is good for anybody. The level of vitriol between the fanbases could only open up wounds and make for a horrible news story.
Jr wont allow it.
True, but he's delusional if he thinks he's out here flexing some power over Saban.
If Saban even so much as mentioned that, he would be getting a call from the boosters paying his mortgage REAL quick.
It's a moot point because Saban won't go down that path, but if he wanted to, he could force the game. There is nothing, NOTHiNG, they wouldn't do if it meant losing him.
Auburn has an opening in 2018. We could play a game there to keep our friendly anti-Bammer rivalry going. The basketball series is going to be good for both programs.
At this juncture, with us starting basically from scratch, I dont want to take the chance of getting embarrassed badly by Alabama. We dont need em now. Id settle for some H and H in basketball, however.

All of the above are true.

UAB should develop/sustain its relationships with Auburn, Troy, South Alabama, and the 4 in-state FCS programs. Having any dealings with UAT is going to be even more poisonous than usual for the foreseeable future. Best to just leave that alone for a while.
Some people won't ever be satisfied until we play them.
UAB is not going to play ANYONE until 2017. I doubt the UAB staff is anxious to play Bama for many reasons until they get a few seasons under their belt. By the time UAB's staff is ready to take such teams on, it may well be another coach is running things for Bama football. In 2020 it will be 50 years since Saban was a DB for the 1970 Kent State team.

Thank you for the history lesson on saban.
Can he get us a home and home in basketball? Now that would be cooking with gas!
