In Boone, Avoid the Green's Motel.

Had a "pool" view. Yea, there were TREES and trash growing out of the pool. It was very bad.

I'd advise renting a log cabin.
Avoid Paulson Stadium and the Georgia Southern campus while in Statesb....actually just avoid Statesboro while in Georgia. 05-stirthepot

Seriously, in Boone, avoid franchise restaurants. Don't get a draft beer if you go to Murphy's. It's a cool bar but I heard a rumor that they never clean their tapp lines.

Not the time I went! You likely toted a similar beat down on your way down the Mountain after what was apparently a very poor motel experience. Sorry about that, by the way. There are tons of nice hotels, resorts, and rental properties around Boone. You picked one of the last remaining **** holes around town. Luckily you didn't blow up from the meth lab in the adjacent room or choke on carbon monoxide in that nasty place.

Didn't you recommend Mellow Mushroom and Macados in the best places to eat thread? I like those places but they are franchise/chain restaurants.

That was many many years ago. Been renting log cabins for years since.

I think we won pretty good that year though, it was before you guys became the power you are now. Pre- AE. I had called a place that I new was pretty good up there, but there were no vacancies. I had called and knew there was a room at Green's but didnt know anything about the place, so I asked the guy at the nice hotel about Greens. It was an anniversary trip and I told the guy that and that I was looking for a place that was sort of nice, and the sob told me that "yea, Greens is a nice hotel". Gotta hand it to the businesses in Boone, they love to make life hard on Georgia Southern folks.

But yes, I did tote a whooping all the way back to GA the last visit I made. Cabin was great, game was terrible.

Mellow is one of a handful of franchises that are worth a trip, and the Boone location is really cool. I thought Macados was one of a kind.
Stay away from Waffle House in Troy.

The locals might give you the stink eye if you take their booth and you'll have trouble.

Then there might be a problem. I can't say what might happen, but I will throw down for hashbrowns.
Avoid El Jalapeño. They have a rat problem and low health score

Is it really a "problem" if it's on the menu?

At a place called the Taco Stand in Athens, they serve a "meat taco". I got a really ****** response of "it's meat" when I asked what it was. In my mind it's now squirrel.

What's wrong with squirrel?
All chicken places in Statesboro are great. Then again chicken is one subject we Georgia Southern that is off limits on our web site after the great chicken debate many years ago. Talking bad about any chicken place will get you banned on gsufans.com

Rightly so since it's your mascot.

Right. So replace squirrel with whatever it is you Cajuns don't eat.

Indeed. I've had armadillo, rattlesnake, nutria, and all sorts of roadkill. Just eat around the tiretrack.

They are secretly plotting to take over Jonesboro. I can see their secret meetings in the trees.
