Well, since Austin Nicols has been given his release, who do you think the starting 5 will be for next year?

My guess
PG - Kedren Johnson
SG - Ricky Tarrant
SF - Trashon Burrell
PF - Dedric Lawson
C - Shaq Goodwin

First of the bench Markel Crawford, KJ Lawson

I think that lineup is probably the best going into the season. I don't know if it will be good enough to win the league title, but I think it is good enough to make the tourny as a 10th seed.
Still a decent team talent wise, but losing AN really hurts. I think we'll be very lucky to make the tourney.
We always look good on paper...

My guess
PG - Kedren Johnson (former starter at Vandy)
SG - Ricky Tarrant (CUSA ROY; CUSA 2nd Team as Soph, starter at Bama)
SF - Trashon Burrell (#7 rated Juco)
PF - Dedric Lawson (McDonalds All American; AAA Mr. Basketball)
C - Shaq Goodwin (McDonalds All American)

First of the bench Markel Crawford, KJ Lawson (AAA Mr. Basketball Finalist), Jeremiah Martin (Class A Mr. Basketball), Nick Marshall, Randall Broddie--all 5 of which are Top 100 recruits.

Line up those commendations against any other team in the AAC. Which one (hell how many teams total) have 2 McDAA's on the team?

How many teams can boast having SEVEN Top 100 players (ie seven 4* recruits)?

Yep

Changed it slightly.
Goodwin/Marshall
Dedric/Hawkins
Burrell/KJ
Kedren/Markel/Woodson
Tarrant/Broddie/Martin

Still light in the frontcourt - and foul trouble to Shaq or Dedric would make things ugly quick.
God we're going to get steamrolled in conference this season.
If Shaq could be decent consistently, it would help tremendously.

Hope springs eternal.
I guess shaq is the captain of the team now
I don't understand people here.

Memphis hauls in top recruit after recruit and folks beat their chests about what a great recruiter we have and how great the classes are.

Memphis loses, admittedly, their best player but still has TWO McDonald's All-Americans, FIVE other four stars on the roster, two JUCO's, a former CUSA ROY and a TN Class A Mr. Basketball and it is "woe is me" and "we'll be lucky to get to any tournament."

What other schools will Memphis play this year that have that many highly decorated players on their roster?

Oh, and add to the fact the team is still returning three starters (four if Trahson is considered a starter) and will have at least four seniors playing major minutes.

I've had that hope for too long.

Paper Tigers, I suppose.

By whom?

ECU, UCF, Tulane, Houston, Temple (lost Cummings and Morgan), USF?

The only decent teams will be Cinci, UConn, Tulsa and SMU.

We lost out best player who had both size and experience. However good we are, we would have been better with him.

Yes, most likely. All of those, if history is any indicator.

Partly sarcasm, but Temple, Tulane, ECU and possibly Houston could take games from us this year. I don't think we stack up very favorably against the top 4 as well. It was going to be a long season even with Nichols, now it's going to be grueling.
