But just sunk in with me a few minutes ago.

The Big XII GOR doesn't cover all the TV rights.

The schools turned their rights over to the Big XII through the 2024-25 academic year.

Big XII sold Tier I and II to ESPN and Fox but turned Tier III back to the schools.

A Big XII defector still would own a piece of their rights outside the Big XII contract despite the GOR.
It has been pointed out to me that terms like Tier1, Tier2 and Tier3 are old fashioned terms and do make sense anymore. amd whatever you do, do not try to tell the BTN that it only has Tier3 rights to Big Ten football games. They are very sensitive about that.

Anyway, there are really only 2 types of rights. Conference controlled rights and school controlled rights. But it is not clear to me who controls what in the Big 12.

One home football game (last pick) and whatever wasn't picked up by Fox and ESPN.
