People are bitching about the change on the UALR facebook page. Saying that is dumb and that the team belongs to the school and the school is UALR.

Here's what I said on the UALR Facebook post about the new brand:

"Check out UNC Charlotte and UT Chattanooga. They have been branding their athletic teams with just the city's name for years. The athletic teams are ambassadors for the city to the rest of the world. Tell me why it's good for them and stupid for Little Rock. Chasse Conque is openly challenging the weird mindset in these parts beautifully. Go Trojans!"

I was going to say something about the infatuation with a program three hours away that looks down their nose at all other universities in the state but that would be a cheap shot.
Good for you! I can understand that from an academic perspective there may be a big advantage from being identified with the University system, but in the athletic world, you might as well just call yourself Asterisk University as UALR.

The critics are people that never cared whether we succeed in the first place.

You nailed it, Jim. Most of the negative stuff is on the UALR Main site and possibly other general media outlets (not that I've been looking much). Most of the reaction on the Athletics facebook page, where people who give at least half a damn visit, has been positive by a 10 to 1 margin.

I'd be curious as to who that one could be.
