Thanks!
Thanks for the letting us know, and the link. This is an excellent interview and great in-depth background on what he has done...even talked about the Karam/Lynch decision.
Here's the interview link if you have some minutes to listen...it's actually a nice long interview. Click/select to the 65 min mark. Y'all will really like this interview....well, I hadn't heard anything this in-depth, so it was a good listen for me.

Missed it. Any key/interesting points?
Excellent interview. Fuente is genuine, introspective, grounded, and insightful.

talked about his path to coaching as a career and his path to memphis. Team was in a sad state when he arrived - lot of individuals, bad work ethic, bad physical condition, not playing for each other. Did not place blame at Porter or West's feet.

Very honest when talking about the state of the team whether its to fans or media.

Doesn't care if being in SEC country some of our fans root for us for very game but another team 1 game each season.

Success of last season is no guarantee of success this season, there are a lot of factors.

There wasn't even a comparison between Karam's talent and Lynch's at QB.
he likes the ribs in memphis.

Lots of info - listen online if you can.
This was a really good interview that he gave. And to some little ole radio station in Covington that has very few listeners. He seems very at ease and in no hurry, that's unusual for a head coach. He just doesn't seem to take himself too serious. Man I hope we can hang on to him for awhile.
Will definitely listen. Thanks for recaps. Holy COW-this is in my lil town, lol!

During Karam's junior season, some of the coaching staff wanted to switch to a true freshman Paxton Lynch mid-season. Fuente, ironically, was one of the ones (if not THE one) that insisted they stay the course with Karam for the rest of his junior season.

When it came time to make the decision for Karam's senior season, he said the decision to go with Lynch was "very easy"

No doubt, because if you remember he named Lynch the starter with two weeks to go before the opener. He had already made up his mind before fall camp started. That was what caused a lot of discussion among fans about the QB.

That's a really good point, but I THINK he might have even said it after the spring game. I think it was more than 2 weeks before.
These guys are good. They went for some great info in this interview.

The GM at the station is Billy Thomas who has an excellent background in Memphis radio. He has been Program Director at some major radio stations and knows the business.
I grew up in Covington. It sounds like the station has changed a lot since I lived there. Of course, a lot can change in 25 years. 03-old
