Interesting.
He seems to be well liked on the Twitter.

Perfect timing.
Tom Schad?
That aint bad!
He's young and hungry. I bet we will see a serious increase in Tiger football coverage this year.
Welcome he'll be roasted in no time.

Especially if he don't have football articles in May
Seems like a neat guy, Tom.

Your silly comment aside; he can't possibly do less than Stukenburg.
Anyone have Schad's email?

Stukenborg did almost nothing and got promoted, but it took a while, so if this guy does even less will he get promoted faster?
Wait a minute? Memphis football had a beat writer? I thought this was a new position? Kidding aside, New, younger blood was definitely needed. I am sure there will be a new energy to coverage that hasn't been there in a really long time. It's been hard to read what little work the previous writer has wrote or tweeted over last few years.
Looks like a good hire. He is from DC, American University in the late 2000s, so he may know McFerrin.

Wrote for the Washington Times, a very secondary newspaper in its market, so this opportunity is a good one for him. I would guess the CA will have him do more year round than just cover Tiger football...and I agree it is time for some new blood and perspectives and style.

Will be nice to have one of those beat writers who gives lots of tweets and blog style posts during a game, and of course doing the leg work in attending practices etc...

Welcome to Memphis.

As a note...in game previews will be nice if they are complete, in the actual paper too. Starting lineups for both teams and season game scores with schedules heading into the game. Especially for road games.

Establishing the basics for preseason and in season would be a big plus. Have always liked to read "key matchups" as well.
A good hire was had by all.
02-13-banana Mimi's suggestions and NDtiger suggestions are perfect.
