Bring in:

Houston (AAC)
Rice (CUSA)
SMU (AAC)

and add

UTEP (CUSA)

New Mexico (MWC)

New Mexico State (Sun Belt/WAC)

Arkansas State (Sun Belt)

Louisiana (Sun Belt)

Tulane (AAC)

Southern Miss (CUSA)

Tulsa (AAC)

Missouri State (MVC)
That would be a legitimate conference!
Lobo fans would consider that a down grade. Some of their dillusional fans think they have a shot at the PAC-12 (16) and don't want to be in a conference with NMSU.

I was under the impression that NM pushed for NMSU to be added to MWC.

They would not be in a conference with UNLV, SDSU and Boise ST...but I would think this more regional conference with Houston, UTEP, Southern Miss and SMU would be on equal par.
We'll excuse you for leaving out TXST. Some guy that has affiliation with TXST and UH owns the rights to that moniker (last I recall) so I wouldn't be so quick to leave out the Bobcats in your scenario.
They could trade places with Missouri State. I just wondered about having five Texas schools.
For the record, I don't think anyone can use the SWC name anymore.

Depends on who you ask. I recall what you're saying when the UNM higher ups were asked after MWC voting that they did indeed vote and try to sell the rest of the members on NMSU, but most of the other teams decided to vote no. The fan base was what I was talking about. Yes, the fans wouldn't have the decision, but I'm sure they are listened to. Most UNM fans I've known consider NMSU their little brothers and don't consider the Aggies peers.
If the AAC and mwc schools don't want to move Id love to see

UL
Arkansas state
Texas state
Rice
Unt
Utsa
Utep
Louisiana tech
NMSU
Southern miss

Compact and I believe could compete with other top G5 conferences. Add Missouri state and either usa or UAB if the need for 12 arises.
Why not just whip everybody's ass on our OOC schedules and call it a day?

At one point they had 8 or 9 from Texas. Just watch Pony Excess last night. Good stuff.
Some of the clips of Eric Dickerson are against UTA in that documentary.

That 30 for 30 was PHENOMENAL! If you want to see more, they're on youtube... Some really great stuff on there.

I like the way you think! 04-cheers
No one in the AAC or MWC is signing up for a conference that over 50% SBC/CUSA and while I could possibly see Rice and UTEP being interested in a SWC in theory, I don't see either of them joining that conference and definitely not Southern Miss.

Even though they'll never join the Pac 12, that would absolutely be a downgrade.
In know I have said this before, and I know it's improbable, but the Sun Belt and C-USA should merge...

Then split into an East and West league..

It's highly unlikely right now, but if the Big XII adds a couple teams there will be a domino effect with C-USA losing their top 2 teams...
If (IF) all the teams of the Sun Belt hold out (that includes UL), then a merger might make the best since...

Let's say Marshall and/or Rice and/or So. Miss and/or UTEP, leave for the AAC or MWC, C-USA really does become the Sun Belt 2.0..

A merger makes since, there are some great natural rivalries that can happen....

East...
ODU
Charlotte
App St
WKy
Middle Tenn
Ga St
Ga So
FIU
FAU
UAB

West
Ark St
La Tech
UL
UNT
Tx St
UTSA
New Mexico St
Troy
So Al
ULM

NOTICE........
I DID NOT USE MARSHALL, SOUTHERN MISS, RICE, OR UTEP
If no one leaves Marshall and Troy could go east and Rice and UTEP west..

I must admit, its fun doing this...

I forgot to mention when the league splits east and west, it would be 2 new 10 or 12 team conferences...
One could still be C-USA the other ??? (not Sun Belt)

Say teams from AAC and New Mexico from the MWC stays put...these teams could come together and create a nice southwestern conference.

Houston, Rice, SMU, UTEP, UTSA, UNT, Texas State, Baylor, TTU, TCU, Texas and aTm.

If you're going to fantasize, then go for it in a big way.

Ha, if you're going big, why include UNT?
