Now there's a coach that can lead his team in prayer. 05-deadhorse
The Rockets also announced the addition of two other home games. Maine will come to the Glass Bowl on Sept. 10, 2016 while Elon will be the season-opening opponent on Aug. 31, 2017.

Elon and Maine=one and done low payout schedule gap fillers. Rather do Sunbelt and CUSA-one for one. BYU is a nice get. Might do the trip to Provo.
BYU is a great opponent for the Rockets. They have a beautiful, scenic stadium with the mountains surrounding it, I'd love to make the trip out west. Can't wait until they come to the Glass Bowl, should be a nice ticket seller.
So it looks like we have a game at Arkansas St on Sept 3 then two weeks later in Tulsa, followed by a trip to Utah at the end of the month. That will help the frequent flyer miles...
Check out their message board....... Not the brightest.

NO!!!!!! 05-nono the trip to Tulsa is moved to 2020 to make room for the BYU game.
Nice job to get home and homes with Tulsa (AAC) and especially BYU (former MWC) ----probably all around the top two G5 conferences. BYU with its long history of outstanding football is particularly impressive as was getting #5 Boise State a few years back.
Great Get!!! Looking forward to the trip to Provo in 2016!!!

All that's fine and dandy, but actually WINNING these games helps us more. Getting throttled by Boise twice didn't really put us on the map now, did it?
I also like the fact that Toledo is sandwiched in between BYU road games at WVU & Mich St.
Great. Good schedule add

I agree that it would certainly be nice to win a few "big" games and the Rockets are certainly way overdue in that department, but you can't win them unless you schedule them first.

Agree, winning is important. I like this opponent very much because it is a quality, tradition rich, opponent which, as far as I can tell, is not a P5 member, right?

Personally, I would rather we no longer schedule P5 opponents. They do not want us to be able to compete with them, so I don't believe we should offer ourselves up as fodder to fill their open dates. BUT--I recognize that scheduling P5 opponents could help recruiting because recruits want an opportunity to perform against P5 competition. Still, I think we should demand a big...no, HUGE...paycheck for scheduling them. After all, they have so much more money than we do, right? And, of course, it's all about the money. So, they should give it up. But, I regress.

Yeah, I like opponents like this. Can we WIN? Well, I don't know. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. At least the mob in Columbus won't have any clout with them and we'll have a fair shot.
This is great. very nice addition to the schedule! A trip to Utah would be awesome

They aren't shying away from anybody........

Arizona (neutral),
at Utah (rivalry),
UCLA,
West Va. (neutral),
TOLEDO,
at Michigan State,
MISS ST.,
at Boise, etc...
in that order.

That just screams trap game. Overlook the MAC team to a match up with MSU.

When you go independent and actually want to play enough games against FBS teams to qualify for a bowl game, you can't shy away from anybody. And when the BYU Network (yes, this does exist) isn't as strong as NBC, and you don't have a power conference backing you up as an independent, you have to play a lot of those games at the mercy of others, hence the neutral games and a lack of home games.
