In the end, it is in our football teams' best interest (if we take care of our business) for CMU also to be strong. And like coach said, these things are much bigger than rivalry.

Watched a nice piece on Nash during the Caribbean bowl game. The young man put up a great fight. Hate seeing this stuff happen to a young guy.
When I had my bone marrow transplant the guy in the next room was Shawn Burr, a former Red Wing. He had leukemia and was on his second transplant. While most of us languished in our beds during recovery he was doing laps in the hallways and walking miles per day trying to beat it. His teenage son was there everyday walking with him and encouraging him. Unfortunately Shawn lost his battle. He was 47 and had been fighting it for almost 5 years.
Jamelle Murray, a former WMU WR was diagnosed with cancer during his tenure here. He took some time off from football, but eventually returned to practice and helped out even though he had an IV port in his chest. He saw action in a few games his senior year.
I had a student in middle school who had leukemia. Her dad was a pediatrician, so she had been diagnosed early and received the best of care. She was always positive even in the face of death, and her parents were as well. She too lost her battle.
Bottom line, while it's very tragic when young people lose their lives to cancer, it's also very sad for the family members. No one should have to bury their children.
