Andy Schwarz told me on twitter not to worry because Joe Nocera - New York Times op-ed guy - is going to have more to say about the UAB Football saga in future columns about "the broader topic."

This is exactly what I'm afraid of. Nocera is probably going to drift further and further away from what actually happened at UAB as he talks about all the ills he perceives with college athletics. Based on the way Schwarz worded it, get ready for at least one more Nocera op-ed on how we missed an opportunity to start a trend of moving away from this expensive, barbaric game in the interest of player safety and higher learning, which is something he has already said outright several times. Bleh.
