It was a hoot watching the smallest group of campers K-3 working out. Also talked to Taylor Gault for about 10-15 minutes about the past year. Also got belated birthday wishes from WBB players Shanity James, Sharde' Collins, Kaitlyn Pratt & (Mo) Monique Townson (yes we have a Mo on both teams). Also spoke with Carolee Dillard (current volleyball player & former Basketball player who was working the camp). Also spoke to Edina Begic & Sonja from volleyball team.

The team camps are not so much about the camps as they are about getting to talk to OUR players who are working the camp or just working out in the Jack.

Coach Beards camp is next week. If you want to speak to a few players you need to go to the camps.
I was on campus on Saturday and saw Mareik in the gym shooting with one of the new guys on the staff. He look like he got taller. I stood around the corner and watched him shoot and do ball handling drills for about 15 minutes and I could count the shots he missed, which wasn't a lot and didn't realize how well he handle the ball. In that short time I watched If he took 100 shots he might have made at least 85 to 90 of them. He looked really good. I also found out he played the last two months of the season with a sports hernia and had surgery right before he left for summer break, and was just released this past week to get back to working out. Which made his shooting that much more impressive. I'm looking forward to this season, he will have a chance to be a special player here for 2 more years.
I'm with you Mareik (Mo) is MY star this year

Mo should play an important part this year. We lost a couple of good players who decided they didn't want to be here any longer, but we kept some good ones also. With what we have coming back, and what we've added, I believe Coach Beard will have plenty of talent with which to work. Mo has the length and shooting skills to have a shot at the NBA if he puts on some weight. As some have predicted, he could be our next NBA player.
I wonder if Steph Curry had everyone tell him he need to put on more weight or did he just got stronger with his current size that help him stay quicker. It's not all about putting on weight.
Steph Curry is a small NBA player who relies on his quickness to defeat taller players. Mo is going to be competing with 6'9" guys, and though he's a great shooter, he has to be able to muscle his way to the basket sometimes, and rebound against those big strong guys, and that takes some strength. I don't know what Mo's best eventual weight will be, but it's only natural he'll gain weight as he matures. There will be a weight at which he's strongest and quickest. I don't know what that might be for him.
Very True
Maybe I should have said Kevin Durant or Corey Brewer instead of Steph Curry about putting on a lot of weight.
Not a lot of weight. Just enough to help him battle against the big boys he'll be playing against. Not so much that he loses quickness.
