NCAAbbs has planned on an upgrade for some time. With the new folks from CUSAbbs, we are beginning to be too much for the CPU we are on. We are going to go forward with our upgrade plans this week because of this. We are moving to a new dual CPU box, getting increased hard drive space, increased bandwith allotment, and getting closer to a dedicated environment. Thursday night, at exactly 11:59 PM EST I will begin closing off all public access to NCAAbbs forums. Admins, you override this, but please DO NOT post, and/or modify ANYTHING on the server after this time, as it could be lost in the move. After all access is blocked, our host will migrate all our files and databases to the new server. You will lose nothing... you account will work the same as always... you don't lose your post count, signature, avatar, or anything else.
Friday morning we will update the DNS servers to reflect the address of our new server. For the overwhelming majority of people, NCAAbbs should show up by Friday night, and everybody should be seeing NCAAbbs by Saturday morning. However, I do have a temporary workaround savvy computer users can use that will allow you use NCAAbbs even before you are able to resolve the new server address. Since most of you, like me, are hopelessly addicted to NCAAbbs... I have setup a status page you can check at any time to see how we are doing. On this page is also a list of contacts you talk to in case you are having trouble, have questions, or want help applying the temporary fix.
