Full Version: The only thing I worry about this year is team chemistry.

Bringing in a lot of players, several of whom are used to being the high scorer on their teams could be a problem, but I'm hoping Coach Beard can handle it. Egos will have to be soothed. It will be very interesting to see
how he will mold the old and new players into a cohesive unit. Having the new players here in the Summer to play pick up games with the returnees could help as the players learn to know each other and appreciate each other's skills. 04-cheers
We have not had team chemistry for years.

No need to worry about team chemistry. Coach Beard is a master of putting together successful teams with new additions added to returning players. One only has to review his 2 years at Angelo State. Players say playing for Coach Beard is a real pleasure and a great learning experience - he NEVER stops coaching (even in a game) and always brings the best out of his players. UALR is in for a great season............04-cheers

You don't know how much some of us here want that to happen, but I'll cross my fingers and wait until it happens before I'll talk about it. I've been bullshitted so many times that it's up to my chin.

You've got me convinced. Looking at his record, over the years, there is simply no reason not to believe you.

A very good indicator of his confidence for this year will be the OOC schedule he agrees to. Patsies, what normally would be body bag games or really solid mid majors that we usually lose to but should now beat if we are all that improved. We are hopeful. Some even profess optimism in a well played set up for an "I told ya' so".Every new coach comes in because they were successful in their last gig. Some continue to be successful. Some are Mike Newells. Let's cross our fingers. My season ticket price just went up. I'll be there, of course, either way.
I thought they dropped ticket prices?
They did in some sections and mine stayed the same. Don't know about Jim

I think Jim has been "undercharged" based on the listed ticket prices. Mine will likely go up next season. I have been getting a "break" due to having bought a seat license at Alltel, but Chasse indicated that will likely end soon.
What is the seat license about? Is that something you have to buy every year?
I don't know about a seat license, but there is a contribution to the Athletic Fund that is part of the season ticket package which is tax deductible. Is that what you're referring to?

I suppose so. I guess they call it a seat license for legal/tax reasons, then.

Alltel had a "seat license" to have the right to buy that seat for every event at Alltel. When I bought the license it was 2K for 10 years for each seat. Part of the deal, was you had to make a contribution to the UALR foundation each year before you could buy your season tickets (it was only $150 per seat back then). When we moved to Stephens, before the 10 year contracted agreement was up, Chris continued the $150 donation that was in our contract rather than raising it to $300 like he did for everyone else in the mid-leathers. I assumed that "discount" would end after a couple of years, but it has continued up until now and I wasn't going to complain. Chasse indicated he will "fix" this by next season. Since he didn't, for this season, I bought an extra mid-leather seat to support him and the new coach.
