UCF model please.

Ahhh...the "Trampoline". So called because it "bounces" as the students jump up and down. If I'm not mistaken there were some "back-handed" shenanigans that took place to get it built.
I like North Texas or FAU
I like the one we already had drawings & blueprints of

I meant in terms of seating capacity and box suites to make sure we please ESPN for the bowl game. Obviously not for the business aspects behind the scenes.
A great read, BUT many of the financing details raise questions about how UAB could accomplish the same things. Which BOT members could UAB count on for similar contributions as mentioned in the article. Also it is my understanding that the UAB administration has made it clear that the school will not participate in raising money nor would it allow bond sales for that purpose. The article was a list of good ideas IF your name is not UAB with its announced limitations on methods of fund raising.

Seconded. Expand as needed.
We already looked into these in the previous study. No need to redo everything. Go with our 2011 plan and tweak it if needed. By the way, I think SMU's stadium was a big influence.

I like Troy's stadium with the double deck look. Not sure how that works with luxury suites tossed in, however. Im not a big fan of the suites being in the end zones, or of end zone seating in general.

I think, based on recent events and enthusiasm surrounding UAB and the heavy hitters who stepped up, the number of suites(28?) would have to increase.

From past reports about Bama's endzone skyboxes, I got the impression that the well heeled residents of them watch the games on megascreen TVs, not through the windows. It is likely that they use the game time to smooze with business contacts, eating catered food and drinking liquids not available to the peasants outside in the stands. It is likely that the open endzone seats were only provided to have a structure to hold up the skyboxes which provide more revenue than the endzone seats alone.

I would guess the same would be true about such accommodations elsewhere, including the UAB OCS when built.
Architecturally speaking, the stadium needs to fit seamless into Southside and the campus, but I'm sure the people in charge are way ahead of me.

I agree about blending, but the first requirements should be meeting the needs of the team who uses it. We saw the Hill Center torn down and replaced while no mention was made of "seamless fit". Any design for the OCS should have the same priority - FIRST - does it adequately fill the needs of UAB's team and then of its fans?

We could plant it right where Ray's office is now on the top floor of the Admin Building:

Is the UAB Administration Building the former Central Bank Building on 20th street?

When I attended UAB (1970-72), Tidwell Hall was the administration, classroom, library, faculty offices and student lounge building. Cudworth Hall was the Engineering and Business Building with a Convocation Meeting Room / Auditorium. You could stand on the corner of 8th and 20th and hit the entire UAB campus with a couple of rocks. That rapid growth since then is what we see scaring the BOT today. That's why I don't believe this was all about football in the least.

It will be a mix of Birmingham steel and UAB red brick. It will fit in just fine.

Might need this in OCS to take advantage of the view of downtown. Also, if extra skyboxes are needed or to add meeting room or entertainment space...
