#1 thing Ohio is a very good FB/BB recruiting state where UMass is poor in that regard. AAC already has UConn FB in New England and for any conference 1 team in New England is plenty.

Personally, I'd rather stay in the MAC unless its a noah's ark situation where staying in the MAC means moving down to FCS. But at least I know we will find a spot on the ark. Maybe a best of CUSA/MAC/SBC situation which would be my preference over the AAC.

IMO UMass is a good fit with Buffalo, Kent St and Eastern Michigan in football, other disadvantaged brands that can make a bowl once in a while but that is about it.

It’s good that you have a preference other than the AAC....

Sad....

The doesn't sound like they'll be rubbing shoulders with Temple and UConn in the near future.

Kent St and Buffalo more likely after Ohio moves from the MAC.

Are you high? Win a championship in football and then talk about leaving.

Who is the media day preseason favorite to win the MAC this season?

Congrats on the preseason championship, it means absolutely nothing.

The Ohio fan (kittonhead) was referring to you (Georgia St) when he made the commuter school comment, obviously. It’s the truth though, I mean Georgia St is a commuter school.

Lol. We have 53k students. But we have to same percentage of students on campus as UGA. We are also Tier One USWR and Carnegie. All which has zero to do with Ohio fan thinking an AAC invite is in the offing after not wanting a B12 one.

Oh I know. Ohio isn’t getting into the AAC or the Big 12. They are named after a state which is 99% of the time great, but “the Ohio st” is the only school in Ohio. Just like Georgia will always be the only school in Georgia. (Sorry GT fans)

So in 1991 a top 10 ECU won at Virginia Tech, at Pitt, at Syracuse and beat South Carolina at DF. Then the Peach Bowl Selected ACC runner up and ranked NC St to play powerhouse ECU. ECU won.

I’m Saying talk big when after you’ve beaten a ton of major schools and play in a big time Bowl. Actually, talk big after you’ve played in more than a couple of minor bowls and beat a couple of cartel 5 schools.

My congratulations to Ohio University on the preseason ratings.

Clearly Ohio would be the better choice for the past 5 years to UMass, but there is one wrinkle. The AAC is not expanding now or even 2-3 years from now. They are happy with their conference and concentrating on getting better. The Wichita State additions was perfect and what was needed for the AAC to move ahead of the A10.

Yes we have been down with men's sports, but AD Ryan Bamford is a good one and he has made some good hires. Men's hockey has started the turn around and football and basketball will follow. Same with attendance, win and they will come. Incremental improvements will start for the stadium in 2019.

Our basketball arena is closer to 9,800 and not 9,500 but that is nothing to worry about. Nice to see you are finally catching up with video boards. While Ohio may have more everyday fans, the UMass bandwagon would swamp Ohio.

Do consider Ohio a true peer and we started out so far behind and made some not to unusual first step mistakes. What was different about us is how everyone pile on give us shlt about being terrible. We have probably played more SEC teams than every team in the MAC combine the past few seasons.

Cheers until Sept 29th and with that huge stadium and turn out. Enjoy your home field advantage and no worries. You are facing a fairly new FBS team with no conference and a peanut for TV and CFP money. Small stadium, how they heck can we recruit well enough to play the mighty Bobcats in the power MAC East conference.
Congrats - I understand this is the first time UMass has had a winning record since moving to FBS
