This is really troubling. I can see Watts and company dragging their feet on doing right by Coach Clark and causing him to leave, which would be hugely demoralizing.
Watts doesn't want that. He knows the most popular guy at UAB is Bill Clark. Lose him and chaos will breakout all over again.

Clark and his agents have had six months to measure Watts' character, or lack of same. He's not going to be driven off easily: he can wait out pumpkinhead.
If he didn't leave after the program was cancelled, then I think he will wait out a couple of months of UAB figuring out an implementation plan and then negotiating a new contract.

It's not really fair to both UAB and Clark for a contract to be negotiated before it's clear when and how the team will return.
I'm more worried about waivers than Clark's contract. I suspect it will drag a while. We have work to do. #WTD

Coach Clark's tweet has me worried:

"If you are going to do it...Be all in! Do it better than has ever been done before. #WTD"

Sounds like Watts & Co. aren't budging on doing anything better than before like actually supporting football facilities.
Not worried.
If Atalla says he is not worried then I am not worried. From some of the marketing I have seen from the athletic department, I think most are all in, even Ingram. I heard an interview in Knoxville with Ingram and was pleased with what he said concerning his experience at UT. We all know that he has to walk a fine line right now with pumpkin head in charge. I mean Hasse was held hostage at his own videoed announcement of his raise.
I saw that and initally thought the same, but it's probably just generic coachspeak. However, Watts wants to plant the seeds of doubt (The statements by Roberson and Tyson were a big help in that regard) so I hope the Football Foundation is ready for pushback from his camp.
Don't read too much into it. Negotiations on a new contract are already in the preliminary stages...and no you don't wait to work out the timeline to begin this. A stable head coaching situation is crucial to fulfilling the return as rapidly as is possible
Watts is a blithering idiot who won't be here much longer.

Bingo. Guys, this is a coach who was probably recruiting players during the press conference to announce football's return. Saban likes Clark so much that Saban actually called Bryant Jr. on the phone with Clark in his office to try and get the two sides to talk. We're in good hands. Clark will emerge from this as a Birmingham hero once Watts is out of the picture. Really, the seeds of our future success are being sown right now. Football probably doesn't return without Clark. It's that simple. He ain't leaving anytime soon because of ol' Punkinhead.

Should we start contacting the NCAA committee who decides on waivers? Start making rational arguments that might plant the idea in their heads? Get this ball moving faster than the speed of snail

Oh God no. A thousand times no. A bunch of fans writing in will only piss them off.
