UAB drops football and now is apparently bringing it back 6 months of axing the program. Seems like the dumbest move ever- killing a team that was bowl eligible this season and now bringing back a team that will have to slowly rebuild and likely be the worst team in DI (or whatever it is called now) for many years to come.

But, what if they just took UALR's "threat" to shut down the program (back in the Newell days) one step further. Our threat led to season tickets sales going from 1500 to 5200- Quite nice, but really not a ton of money at $75 a ticket. UAB, by "killing" the program now has close to 20 million dollars pledged from various sources. Maybe the move wasn't so dumb after all.

Personally, I think it was an incredibly dumb move and now bringing back a team that will be terrible for years may be even dumber.

Wouldn't be surprised that they sold all of their equipment(helmets, pads, blocking and talking dummies and pads)to other schools, and perhaps some high schools. If they have to replace a lot of that stuff, it's going to take a small fortune. And I assume that six months ago, they had no reason to keep all that stuff. Probably a dumb ass move.
