Is it conceivable that a number of our players might transfer back? Since they haven't started the football season, could they transfer back and use the 2015 season as their year to sit out.

Not sure how the NCAA transfer rules work, but is this a possibility?

No.
Actually, it is a possibility. The NCAA can grant waivers for anything it wants to.

This is such a unique situation, it may be willing to do that.
Personally, we have a year. These kids have gone through enough. They will always be Blazers. If they want to come back, it's on them, but don't go bothering them and pestering them. Let's rebuild and rebuild right.
I believe if Clark comes back and has strong support, we will head in the right direction.
I would guess that many come back...but I have almost no basis for that
I didn't hear Ingram say football was returning in 2016. They didn't commit to that or did I miss it?
But why penalize the teams they went to? It is way too late for teams to try and replace any players leaving and coming back here. As much as I would like them to come back, gotta realize that they moved on. I wish them and their new teams the best. We need to start building again.

No you didn't. But that's the goal. Depends on the NCAA.

If the players that left want to stay with their new teams...absolutely, they have all my support. They should feel no pressure to hop back on this roller coaster.

But if they want to return, it's not like they're established members of their new teams. They've been there a few months.
Regarding Blazer players who went to other programs, we must remember that they have now gone through spring practice with their new teams so have "bonded" with their new team mates. To think about coming back when we don't yet offer a time line for our renewal is not realistic.
I trust our renewed staff to restock with the same quality of players as we had before - or better. Who knows - with UAB's new national name, we may find good players asking Clark for a chance to play here.

Yeah they are established now. They've gone through spring practice with their teams.

We'll have to agree to disagree

Absolutely.
According to Ty Long many are already wanting to come back.
On further thought, in certain cases the player(s) might not be totally happy where they are and want to return to UAB. EX: Three of our top four QBs went to USA. I have not seen any press coverage of their spring practice so I don't know if all 3 are happy with the way things are working out down there. At least two have the class standing to come back and play at least two years for UAB.

Perhaps NCAA allows each school who has a UAB player return an additional scholarship above the limit?

Theoretically UAB could sign 25 "early enrollees" in December and then another 25 in February. Add holdovers and transfers up from FCS to 85
I love our players that left but let's be honest--Bill Clark will for many years to come be picking out diamonds from the rough. There are many more 1-3 stars than 4 and 5. He is being paid to develop non-marquee players and he is damn good at it.

One has left USA already. (Chipolette) Weber state transfer who would still have two years to play.
