I noticed Kent's season ending comments on line and thought I would share them.

http://hawksquawk.net/community/topic/40...-synopsis/
I was worried a little bit until i read the "comments" in the title. Yeah Atlanta has some fantastic bike routes. He would love it here.
This doesn't relate to his comments but didn't think it needed a new thread. Pretty solid article about Bazemore and his potential.

Thanks for the find. I enjoyed it. 04-cheers
Things just got more crowded for Baze as Hardaway Jr dished to Hawks

Hawks take another SG from Sweden in addition to getting Tim Hardaway, Jr. Hawks not showing a lot of confidence in Baze. Not a good night for him.
Well, perhaps he lands with my favorite team, the Celtics. They added RJ Hunter GState) and Marcus Thornton (W&M) last night in the draft.

Wow, Hawks trade the 15th pick in a deep draft (oubre, Hunter, Dekker) available to acquire Hardaway (inferior player) and 2, second round picks.

They are likely to lose Carroll.
Good news for Baze. Demarre Carroll going to Toronto Raptors. Probably means Sefalosha starts at 3 with Baze in the rotation at 2 and 3 along with Hardaway and Korver when he is healthy.
Great article by Ed Miller. Good for Kent, his family, and Old Dominion. Now one of my all-time favorite Monarchs.

I hope Kent is working on his 3 point shooting a lot this summer. He needs to do all that he can to become a 40+ percent shooter from there. He should also work to improve his foul shooting percentage. This coming season is a very big year for him as it is the last year of his current contract. If he has a good year he stands to ensure that he is playing for some NBA team again the next few years and could also get a significant increase in pay.

That's easier said than done. Only 22 players in the NBA shot 40% or better from three point land.
Sunday July 12th is ODU night at Harbor Park...game time is 6:05 pm:

Quote:ODU Night

The Tides proudly welcome all Monarchs to ODU Night at Harbor Park. Former Monarch and current Atlanta Hawk Kent Bazemore is scheduled to appear on the Harbor Park concourse to meet fans and sign autographs. Bazemore helped lead the Monarchs to two NCAA tournament appearances and most recently helped the Atlanta Hawks finish the season with the NBA Eastern Conference's best record of 60-22.

he certainly can work on his 3-pt shot, but 40% might be an ambitious goal. personally I think he could use some ball handling work. if that and his 3 pt shot (or just his shot in general) improve while also continuing to work on his elite defense, he should see more minutes next year...remember also, he didn't have much of an off season last year b/c of his injury recovery. he's 100% right now and that is also to his advantage.

As Bobby Wilder would say ... Aim High. Kent shot 21.4% from 3 and 67.7% from the foul line for the Hawks this year. He is capable of doing much better than that and should set his goals high (40% and 75%) for the upcoming year. Whether he reaches them or not he should work to get as close as possible.

He shot over 40% from 3 in 70+ attempts during his Junior year at ODU. I suspect that he would have had a much better shooting year his Senior season had he not injured his foot/leg during the summer going into that year. That injury definitely set him back that year.

I'm hopeful that his late season injury with the Lakers had a similar affect on his play this past season and being healthy this off season will mean that we will see a new and improved Kent. I have nothing but confidence in him since I know he wants to excel and will put in the work to improve.

Before his Senior season I remember seeing him at a few practices that I attended in October running the steps at the TED and doing dribbling drills with 2 basketballs at a time. This was before he was cleared to practice with the team.

So, if VCU won he would have gone there? Yikes! We spoke with Chris Cooper once and he told us the story of he and his mother visiting VCU and how she told him, "Chris, you can't go HERE!" I'm quite sure his mother is not only a brilliant, but a very beautiful woman. He, also, shared with us why he chose ODU and great insight on Blaine Taylor. Chris Cooper will remain an all time favorite of mine.
One proponent of an increased role for Baze:

Would the Hawks consider signing him to a lucrative long term contract, or is it better to wait after this coming year when he again becomes a free agent?
