In the past 1 and 2 seeds got byes into the semi finals and only played 2 games. Now the 1 and 2 seeds will play 3 games to win the championship.

Nice, I think what this means is that the 5 to 12 seeds have to win one less game. It used to be the winners of the those lower seeded games would play each other, now they must go onto play each of the four top seeds. That is really how it should be. Granted, it stinks now that NIU is getting good, they wont benefit from the treatment the top 2 seeds have enjoyed so it could suck in that regard if NIU ever is a top 2 team, but overall I like the change. I think the semi pressure/mockery by some media on social media about the format may have persuaded a few people.

My only further recommendation would be to give the division winners the 1 and 2 seeds. It adds some excitement to the divisional races. Axing those top seeds to division winners was such a reactionary kneejerk thing to the East dominance over the West
My recommendation would be to move this tournament to Chicago. Play at Allstate, Sears Centre, or even the new building DePaul will be playing in.

Yeah, I am sure all the schools east of chicago (like 11 of them) will willingly agree to such a recommendation.

When we had the MAC tournament in Rockford in the 80's, some of the MAC coaches alluded to the tournament being played in the "middle of nowhere". Pretty harsh words from a group of schools situated in the "middle of nowhere". Playing in Chicago however may be attractive to MAC fans (if not coaches) looking to travel for a weekend. Despite the distance from MAC schools, its a much better destination than Cleveland!
Knee feeling good, and getting stronger each day..#Blessed

Awesome to see!!
Every time I bring up the MAC tournament in Chicago on the main MAC board they trumpet Cleavland as some great Mecca of basketball. Another reason to get out of this conference

The conference tourney should represent a central location gathering place for fans to come. Unfortunately being a western outlier in the MAC it wont be as convenient for NIU, but I do not see an issue with Cleveland as the site. Attendance in the western suburbs of Chicago would be so poor.

Cleveland is a god awful place where hopes and dreams go to die. Other than that it's an okay venue I guess.

Have any of you that are knocking Cleveland ever been to the MAC tournament? It is a blast--lots of great bars, restaurants and hotels all within walking distance of the arena--the Marriott is actually attached to the arena. Quicken Loans is a good basketball facility--the tourney is well run and can catch men's and women's games on multiple days.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a great place to visit--just a short way from the arena....All in all, downtown Cleveland can be fun--much easier to navigate than Chicago and much cheaper. For those so inclined, there is a casino just steps from the arena...a Submarine memorial is close as well and the House of Blues is a fun spot..

+1. Cleveland is just fine, and the location of the arena is great.

The world doesn't revolve around Chicago.

My girlfriend's family is from that area so I am there probably alot more than alot of people and alot more than I would like to be.

I'm not advocating the tournament be moved to Chicago though because that makes no sense for the MAC. Moving it to Indy, along with the MAC football championship, would be ideal.
