it's been a while, but thought I would ask: any news regarding the upcoming scoreboard update at Waldo?
If they are mounting it on the current structure then it will probably be later this summer.

I find that curious in itself. Outside of saving money the only reason I can see for them not putting up updated mounts is that they have future plans to replace the endzone bleacher and will update the mounts when they update the endzone. Less demolition, and allows them to accommodate the new dimensions that may occur with either a larger or smaller endzone seating area.
I know they have been promising to get it up before the MSU game. The black eye if they don't would take some time to heal.
I am not so worried about whether it will be installed and operating, but I am concerned that there be enough time and money spent in training the operating crew prior to the game. I can see us not have enough graphics produced and the operators pushing the wrong buttons and that WMU comes across as an "amateur" production crew rather than a slick and cohesive unit.

I thought that our introduction with the basketball scoreboard was not fully tested and trained and we can not have that this time around.

My concerns exactly, Acer. Those boards are complicated to operate, it won't be a turnkey operation. Let's hope the operators are undergoing training as we speak to cut down on the learning curve once the board is up.
Sigh. The lack of trust on this board is monumental. What do you think our Athletic Department personnel do all day? Sit around all morning eating Sweetwater donuts? Decide what color to paint the goal posts? Plan trips to Lake Michigan?

Trust me, with that big donor flying in for the game, he better see some results for his 2 mil. I think the execution of the scoreboard asset will be superb.
DE, you are right. I should have been more positive.

Always proud to be a Bronco, RTB,
Like one of my Engineering Directors used to say, 'Trust in God, in everyone else demand data.'.

Be nice if we had more updates on the Board. Even if it was only 'Renovation on schedule, according to WMU AD'. I mean, they are supposed to be in the news dissemination business, aren't they?
