The word I am getting from behind the scenes is not good! That's all I can say right now without betraying confidences.

The real fight is just beginning. Keep your ammunition dry. We fight until we win, regardless of how long it takes.
Not surprising. If anything, it's better for him to announce it and get it over with so that he looks as stupid as possible.

They know that if they can run off Bill and get us kicked out of CUSA, it's mission accomplished.
Well we knew that. The surprise would be good news.

What we need to know now is how many are on our side, who needs to feel the heat turned up, and when can we start the next phase of our movement?
He's meeting with the coaches sometime today from my understanding.
With what coaches? All the coaches? Haase, Shoop, all of them?

My understanding is he's meeting with all of them in a big, joint meeting.
All of them. He will tell them we don't have the money and he will also use the cost of killing the program against us. He will stick with Carr Report.

WE Fight.

Write the coaches now! I put their e-mail addresses in a separate thread.
Well I had hoped Watts would at least try to salvage his reputation, but it looks like he isn't. In reality what does he have left to stand on other than pure stubborness? The CSS report, the 2008 study by the Chancellor, and the OSKR report all discredit the Carr Report. Watts said their was no booster support, but people have been more than willing to donate money.

I hope Watts is getting a good payout because his actions have destroyed, burnt, and pissed on his chances of being an administrator anywhere outside the UA system.
He doesn't care about public opinion. he will do his dirty work and take his golden parachute from PBJ, Fess, and Finis the Pinis and you will never see him again. He will retire a rich man.

Again. HE DOES NOT CARE ABOUT PUBLIC OPINION. ITS NOT ABOUT THE MONEY even though he will say it is.
Addresses are pinned at the top
Oh, it's about the money all right. It's about the money he'll be paid to retire "for the good of the university". He'll take a big ol' pile of blood money and slink away.

I'm betting that it's a BIG pile of money.
Boy, can't wait til the coaching searches begin to find new basketball, soccer, baseball, softball coaches. They aren't going to want to be coaching in the Atlantic sun or d1-aa

He will probably say that the $22 Million raised is "not real" and will be calling ever one, you, and some of the richest, most important people in this town unreliable lairs. That ought to go over real well.

That's what I think as well. He is going to take the money and run somewhere far away.

That will be two University Presidents that need to be found in a year. If this doesn't raise the eyebrows of the state Legislature and/or SACS, then I don't know what will.
Considering the high character and intelligence of our coaches, I am not worried about how they will respond to Watts.
Call me a silly optimist, but now that the word is out, I expect a final move by Filler, Ripps, Hire, Craft, etc. before Watts paints himself in a corner. (No inside info there, just a guess.) I doubt it will change Watts' mind, but it could put him in a much worst position when he makes the announcements.

Surely they have heard by now and I just don't believe their bag of tricks is empty. I could think of several things I might do if I had their money.

Looks like we might have to re-shoot the commercial. Too bad, it was really good.

Rather than get down about this we have to bounce back and look for silver linings. For instance if Watts makes his announcement, the legislative session will not be over.
You know what makes it worse? They are going to pay that fat bastard millions of dollars to resign, and it will be money out of UAB's budget.

That's some sweet bureaucratic knife work there, making someone pay for their own assassin.

There is no D1-aa.
I imagine a lawsuit will be in order if Watts says the donations are not real.

We can use that to our advantage, when it happens. (notice I used when not if)

"The state's budgets are in dire shape and the petty managment of the BOT is paying millions of taxpayer money to cover up their misdeeds and sabotage of a major state University."

That's how we should frame the argument. Use their own tricks against them.
