1*Run for Mayor of Memphis

2*Make Memphis his home(for a very LONG time)

3*Allow his voice to be heard, emphatically, encouraging us fans & the community to support his & the TIGERS cause

There are a couple of threads that have resorted to conjecture as to how & why DS has fallen back into our graces...We need Stoudamire in a multitude of ways....regardless of reasoning, how, who & why. Thank whomever for making THIS happen....KUDOS!

"Today IS the first day of the rest of OUR lives, let's be TIGER fans, UNITED for this cause! And get excited about TIGER Basketball once again.... This may NOT be "MATE", but it is definitely "check"
I wish he'd bring that of with him
He just needs to have Josh's ear more than most have.

I'm really excited about Damon coming back...I think that Josh has NOW realized that he MUST relinquish some of the coaching responsibilities and really trust that it will be done to his satisfaction.....Well we know, that he's only going to do that with an Arizona buddy. Damon's relationship with the Lawson's also helps as well as it keeps dad from going directly to Josh with recommendations, he can go to Damon and that allows a buffer for Josh not to be caught up in Lawson politics...A gr8 move all around, played correctly can make for some exciting ball this year!
Both JP & DS know that DS is better equipped to succeed than JP. If JP embraces it & uses DS' knowledge & leadership, it will benefit our BB program & both JP & DS. If JP remains stubborn & unwilling to have DS influence decisions, then DS' return won't last long & go well for either party.
Prob will be the next head coach if things go poorly next year. Just a hunch but seems like something that could happen. I'm not hating on Pastner but most agree this year needs to be very different from the last or changes will be made. I'm not sure if I would like that hire as him as head coach but judging by who other schools have had to hire the pool would be small. Either way hopefully all this is a mute point and we have a great year and make some noise and things will begin to look up for us. It's good to have Damon back for sure. Should help with the guard play immediately and bring some credibility as he was a good guard in the NBA for years so that will definitely work to his advantage and I think he can relate to players on level that Josh really can't. The whole inner city kid thing doesn't seem to be a group Pastner can really relate to. So this should help the communication breakdown for us and give us credibility with high level guards. Really good re hire. I'm surprised he would leave Arizona though to come back here. It seems he could really be the replacement for Pastner if things go south. What are some thoughts on that? Would u like Damon as the head coach? Just a question I'm not firing Pastner here or anything. It just seems why leave a school that is your alma mater that has had great success to come back to a struggling program just something seems odd about that. Who knows though. I like the hire think it's good for the program.

Based on Damon's resume, he is exactly what this university needs as a leader of this program.....His NBA roots are extremely important; As I feel that gives a distinct advantage with recruits. He can talk to players about the NBA and can rel8 to that lifestyle. So the players that aspire to reach that level will listen very closely & respect that.

I think this gives coaches such as Calipari, Coach K, Ricky P, Kevin Ollie a wonderful foundation to start with,as MOST of these players want to reach that level, if not ALL....Again, I think this is a wonderful asset, and an asset that should be almost a prerequisite of the Memphis program, playing in FEF.

Damon also has experience with @grizzlies as well, so another feather in the cap for him. I can't say how it will be a benefit exactly, other than having a relationship with @grizz players & staff, but I think it was mentioned about Big DOM and @Zbo being his idol/fav player or what-have-you, and that it would be awesome if he could workout with @Zbo, don't know how much that actually materialized, but it could actually come to fruition with DS.

Another important factor is, IF DS were to become head coach here! Who would he add to his staff and what former players coaches does he connect well with? Maybe Miles Simon? As I have heard him mentioned several times that Josh has wanted him here, his connections and how wonderful a get that would be......

Finally, my most important aspect for logevity purposes. Is a coach that wants to be in MEMPHIS! And sees this city as a building block and wants to be here long-term.

.....Being that DS was here before, left & came back, also speaks volumes of the city, OMG, that's IS critical IMO! we really can build from that. Also with DS is NOT from Memphis and feels that way is even more special, JMO.I feel privileged that he expressed so,as well as made the move back here. There's definitely something to it. I wish the best for him, as he seems to be a man on a mission and up for the challenge. ...

His experience & pedigree speaks for itself. ....welcome back to Memphis Damon! I hope he makes a legacy here!

That was a long answer, but I would relish him as head coach also as a leader of our community!

Perfect scenario if DS does become HC! I hope that JP sticks around as assistant! Probably NOT gonna happen, but wishful thinking....He would make a gr8 assistant!

Yeah you make some good points. I'm not sure how I would feel about him being the head coach but I guess we are not there yet. It was just a thought cause it does seen like a lateral if not a step down for Damon to leave Arizona for Memphis so maybe that was discussed before the hire. I dunno just throwing conspiracy theories out there lol. Anyways as an assistant it's a great hire and yeah I remember hearing that Damon thought Markel was the best player in the city in that class and was key to landing him so I'm sure Markel is excited about the hire. I really like Markel and look forward to seeing him develop the next couple years. Good thing about guys like Markel and Jeremiah is that they are more than likely four year guys so u get some stability at that spot for a few years.
Maybe this is a plan to allow Josh to Leave and DS to take over....
