But you lost me when Memphis got an invite to a P4 conference while Iowa St, Kansas St and TCU got left behind in the sh!tty leftover conference, oops, I mean the Big 12.

Your big 12 is ridiculous. Even more ridiculous is Memphis being accepted into the ACC.

Just keeping rivalries (Memphis/UofL/Cinci) together and basketball.

And it might be the 5th conference, but it still gets an autobid. Probably would never host a 1st round playoff game outside of great season, but Ames & Manhattan are far more like some of the other schools assoc with them than the B1G.

Kansas and Baylor great B1G academic adds and gets B1G into Texas.

Regardless of school conference affiliations, I think that 8 team playoff format would be great.

Plus the 2 big things that does is get the original ACC back together, and the original PAC-8 back together.

SEC picks up NC and WVU.

Swap WVU for VT in that scenario and I'll take it for the SEC

This is one point where I agree with you. The B12 regardless of taking a some membership hits will continue to be considered a P5 as that is what it has been setup to be considered by the NCAA.

Without Texas/Oklahoma thought the B12 becomes a tweener P5 aka like the Big East in the old BCS system with smaller TV revenue and a floating bid to an Access Bowl.

Some good thoughts but, recommend some changes.

Baylor does not fit in the Big10.....replcace them with Missouri. Leave Baylor in the Big12. Add Houston to the SEC to replace Missouri.

Temple, Marshall, So. Miss, and Tulane do not belong in Big12.

Instead add to the Big12 with Air Force, Army, Navy and BYU.
(BYU finally gets into the Big12).

The SEC might not be crazy on adding Houston, but it really fits geographically and would not be a bad addition. If Missouri left and the ACC stuck together, Houston would be their best choice.

No chance that your version of the Big 12 would have an automatic bid to any playoffs. That's a G5 lineup there, not a Power conference lineup.

That's a G5 super conference but not a conference worthy of a CFP playoff spot.

Could be a 4 super conference with 24 teams. 4 pods of 6 for each conference. It would be hard to tear any schools away from the SEC right now. This would get G5 schools into a P4 conference. Texas might be hard sell until they get rid of the Longhorn Network. They rather go independent than dropping the network. Baylor, Iowa State and Kansas State nobody would be interested in. They might look at UTSA which is more attractive for TV sets than those three. Plus, they are under Texas umbrella which means their academics could be similar to the Longhorns.

Only Alaska and Vermont don't have a D1 football team. One from each state can stop any anti- whatever lawsuits from any state.

No way the Big 12 keeps all its contracts and autobids after losing 7 schools and replacing them with 13 G5 schools. There is no point in even calling it the Big 12 anymore because it is unrecognizable. much like the Big East transforming into the AAC.

for political reasons, no way Iowa State and Kansas State are left stranded in a G6 conference. You might as well have the BigTen take Iowa St, and Kan St, then dissolve the Big 12.

The problem is that 3 schools will be left up in the air, or maybe 4. Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas State and TCU could join the MWC and then the MWC can be the new P% conference.

Baylor, ISU, KSU, and TCU are not strong enough to form the nucleus of a P5 conference.

Maybe not, but the MWC schools had the PAC 12's numbers in recent years. Boise State owns the PAC 12 the past 10 years beating Oregon and Oregon State. Hawaii have been beating PAC 12 schools. Fresno State upset a PAC 12 school with Derek Carr at the helms. Those schools that I have mentioned have beaten schools from the other P5 conferences, so it could hold their own better than the bottom of the AAC.

Houston makes no sense at all and there are at least a dozen better candidates we'd go through first because the primary targets for any future hypothetical SEC expansion are large public Flagship/Land Grant schools in non-NFL towns/cities in states we don't have a presence in already.

And before you Coogs waste an hour typing "but...but...we have such potential if you'd only give us a chance!!" thats not how realignment works and you know it.

Heck, even a school with the tradition of Miami doesn't meet those requirements and would not be seriously considered ahead of many other candidates.
