This move might have bigger ramifications for the Atlantic Sun though, as the league is now down to seven teams. The minimum to keep a bid to the NCAA Tournament is seven schools, meaning the league is now in a bit of a precarious position. One would think they will likely continue looking to expand in the coming months.

How many does that give the Horizon? They could be looking to add more, too.
Ray is fapping, and it isn't even our fault this time.

*of note. All the schools in the Atlantic are regionally ranked universities. UAB is currently nationally ranked.
One of the biggest things that strikes me in that listing is huge disparity between the sizes of the schools that are already members.
I don't think enrollment is gonna rise all of a sudden, either.
Nothing against the schools in the A-Sun, but this will be a step down and backwards, to me. Heck, I've never heard of any of these schools before tonight, and they would be considered regional.
Kennesaw State is starting football and moving to Big South, I believe. NKU gone to Horizon. Leaves ASUN with only 7.
Like I said, until all of this happened with Watts I never and still don't keep up with the A-sun, A-10, big whoop, or whatever. To be fair, I only kept up with the MAC and Mnt West because they had football and we had the chance of playing their schools.

And there you have the Trustees' ultimate goal, which has little to do with football.

Not long ago, Cincinnati and Central Florida were ranked below UAB in terms of research. Somehow they've managed to build both football AND academic prestige over the past decade.

The average "Joe and Jane" in Alabama believes that the whole nation accepts our state's valuation system for ranking states. "HOW MANY NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS HAS YOUR STATE WON IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL?" End of state ranking according to them.

As long as "our coaches" can import enough quality players from those other states to win NCs in football, they don't care what happens to the public schools in Alabama. Just a week or so ago, a north Alabama county voted down a local school support tax measure 80% to 20%. The drum beat continues.

That was my county! 03-banghead03-banghead What's bad is that the system closed 3 schools about 5 years ago due to budget strains. The people at the remaining schools weren't smart enough to see that their schools will likely close now that the vote failed. The ones who voted against it will be the loudest complaining about the closed schools too...
