Not only is he a good slasher and scorer, but he defends well along the perimeter too according to reports. Also says he is a good football player so he's an athlete. Don't know much else about him but it seems like a smart offer and fills an immediate need.

Lefty. Shoots from his chest...but I love his athleticism. Seems to handle the rock pretty well, passes good too. Can finish above the rim.

I like this offer very much. Fix his shot and he could be an impact player with his athleticism.
Nice.
"above the rim"? What's that? Is that legal?
He committed to WMU today, per Steve Bell. Congrats! Sounds like a really solid guard.
Great news. Guessing game is over now.

I'm very excited to see this young man in a Bronco uniform. Breakfast with the Broncos can't come soon enough.
I really wanted the kid from Ann Arbor. Did this kid have any other offers?
Per the Mlive Muskegon Dream Team

Quote:The 6-foot-5 forward formed one of the state’s top 1-2 combinations with Dream Team Player of the Year Deyonta Davis. Kennedy averaged 17.1 points, six rebounds a game and topped 1,000 points in his career, but cared most about winning. “He’s the most unselfish guy I’ve ever coached,” Muskegon’s Keith Guy said. “To play in the shadow of Deyonta and Deshaun (Thrower), he never complained once. He never once questioned anything.” Guy said Kennedy’s biggest strides came on the defensive end where he went from a liability to a lock-down stopper. Kennedy, a college recruit for basketball and football, also showed his durability by missing only one basketball practice in four varsity seasons.

Sounds like a tweener. Could play either 2G or WF

Has played with some mega talents which could mean one of two things. Either he could have really light it up if he were the main attraction, or because Davis got all of the attention he got a lot of easy looks.
Dropped 31 on Romulus

Quote:Joeviair Kennedy's 31 points and Deyonta Davis' triple-double led Muskegon in its 69-59 win against Romulus, part of the Floyd Mayweather Classic on Saturday. Muskegon was ranked No. 3 and Romulus No. 10 in the most recent Associated Press Class A poll.

Davis, a Michigan State University-bound senior, scored 15 points in addition to his 22 rebounds and 13 blocks. Kennedy had four assists, while Daryl Kirkland and Jason Loera had two steals apiece. Romulus' Jaylin Walker scored 24 points, trailed by Savann Williams with 12 and Rio Washington with 10.

Muskegon led 42-29 at halftime and managed to hold off Romulus' second-half surge. Romulus claimed the third quarter 18-13, but Muskegon rallied to pull off a 14-12 fourth quarter and win the game.

"It was pretty close," said Muskegon coach Keith Guy. "We could have done better in the third. We had a lack of focus in the third and got away from what was making us successful. That lapse hurt us."

Guy spoke highly of Kennedy and Davis.

"That might have been a career-high for Joeviair; he has the ability to put up big numbers," Guy said. "Deyonta's triple-double was great; he is getting some great numbers."

Muskegon faces Grand Rapids Christian on Tuesday.

Article from Jan. The more I read about this young man, the more I like.
I'm not sure if anyone else realizes this...but our list of scholarship players from the Grand Rapids area (defined by North of Plainwell and east of Lansing) looks like this in the last 10 years:

Mike Redell - Rockford
David Kool - Grand Rapids

Mr. Kennedy will be our third.
Taylor Perry replacement?
Long, athletic, can board and finish inside. Didn't see much from the perimeter. A replacement for Perry sounds spot on.
What's everyone's take on next season? With all the new faces are we looking at a 'rebuilding year'? I'd hate to see a drop-off from the high level we've been playing at in the MAC, but it's going to take some time for everyone to get on the same page. Or am I being too pessimistic? 03-idea

Shouldn't be a rebuilding year at all. We return 4 starters in Tave, Haymond, Lamont, and Wilder. Depth at every spot with upgraded depth at at least 4 spots.
I don't expect a rebuilding year, but I acknowledge that we aren't going to be looked at as a favorite in the division or overall.

I would place WMU in the upper half of the conference. CMU, Akron, Kent and likely Buffalo will likely be favored in the pre-season.
