Somebody want to help me out with this one? My head hurts.

Wes is working against us. He has shown his true colors. He must go.

No way in hell would I sign an agreement that doesn't return funds to me if football is reinstated. UAB gets to re-direct my funds? No thanks.

This is the counter to whatever "news" on the Free UAB front that's coming out today.

UAB always does this. Not just with athletics. With all philanthropy. They don't ever want to unconditionally accept people's generosity. They always put stipulations on it and try to get donors to jump through all these hoops or allocation certain amounts to other things the donor doesn't have on his/her radar. Many people just get frustrated and back out on donations because of this treatment. Anecdotes I've heard from people close to me over the years, primarily with hospital and clinic.

I think so. Justin announces the UAB football foundation has pledges for $5,000,000 and Ray just says "Well, it's not in my bank account yet so it doesn't exist."

It just gives them a way to wiggle out of football. I can't believe they would even try to slide that past people.

Watts and his people know that and that is what they will use to justify their decision.

At least they gave us an 8-hour head start to debunk it.

The news is probably just a release of how many people and how much money the football foundation has pledged. So, you're right. This is to preemptively say that those pledges are meaningless since they're not pledged to the school.
This just goes back to the fact that football is not coming back anytime soon, and not ever with the current leadership at UAB or the University of Alabama System. Donald Trump could land his helicopter on 20th Street South and dump out a pile of $500 million in the street and if he said it could only be used for football, they would set it on fire.

They used this same tactic with the OCS when they said pledges aren't actual donations

How come at UA you can contribute to the UA - Crimson Tide Foundation and we cannot at UAB? See link: http://www.rolltide.com/sports/crimson-t...q-ctf.html

That's essentially what the Football Foundation is doing/has done. It's not that they physically don't have possession of the money, it's that UAB wants to use the prospect of the *possibility* of football coming back to raise money and put it in the bank, even though they have zero intention of bringing it back regardless of how much money is raised. Then, once they have a pile of money (because they know the support for football is there) they can then redirect it to whatever they want to do.
