Watts has his boy & ingram has already learned the key buzz phrases.

Dodged all questions about football.

He also cried.
He said what he would be expected to say at this point.

Said it was premature to comment on conference affiliation until we are forced to leave CUSA.
Said the interest in football shows there is a lot of potential at UAB.
Did not say UAB was coming back or that it was gone.

Seems like a no nonsense type of guy.

I'm more interested in what he does than what he says at his intro press conference.
However, he did say this:

"My top priority is to maintain the mission of the University." He said his second priority was student-athletes.
I'm more interested in what he does than what he says, and more interested in what happens after we get Ray gone.
All in all, it's a single afternoon of questioning. I'm feeling particular hawkish since it's such an important hire, but his words and responses right now don't matter to me nearly as much as actions will post-review.

He really does seem to treasure the opportunity, though.
He'll do what his boss tells him to do!

Actually, he said the institution instead of the university, then referred to the Board of Trustees, University, etc. etc.
It's perfectly fair for us to believe that he's already been told "the mission." However, regardless of football's future state, these answers should have been expected by all. Which is why an AD shouldn't have been chosen until after May 15.
Look, he hasn't had a chance to see UAB's reality yet. He may believe certain things to be true because Watts has told him so. He may have heard the other side of those things too, but he has way to act upon any of it yet. He needs some time.
Memphis Blazer, were you in that room? I don't think so. It was intense. Your musings are laughable at this point.
Were you there and talking to him at the Baseball game? The guy is not a part of us. I WAS THERE.

Go ahead Paul, erase this too, like you did the last several of my comments.

Can you repost them on the C-USA board?
Sooo...we don't like the new AD? That's nice. Good to see things looking up for UAB athletics.

We were all fawning over Ray Watts when he was hired, so maybe hating this guy right out of the gate would be a good sign.
I don't know. I wasn't impressed, but what can you really expect? He's not going to get in front of a microphone, blow up the administration, and immediately start making promises he's not sure he can keep. I'm sure the people behind him urged caution, and he played it safe.

That said, rallying against and antagonizing him on the basis of empty rhetoric and gut feelings seem premature to me. I didn't like a lot of what I heard, but it's the company line. I'm going to give him a real chance to show me what he's all about.

What about him rubbed you the wrong way, BlazerHam?
Of course he toed the company line.

How many of you tough guys have pissed in the boss' coffee on your first day at a new gig?
Not sure what folks expected him to say at an intro press conference. I think the selection committee (of which there are several UAB athletics/football supporters) saw potential in Ingram. Let's not throw him under the bus just yet.

There's no quicker way to set up a bad dynamic with Ingram going forward than to immediately cast him as the enemy.

Because, as we all know, actions speak louder than words. Ray Watts is a firm believer in that.
Lets see what happens. We could have Joe dean Jr..............

I have not idea who "us" is.

Agree 100%... except for the part being his first day on the job... he won't start for a a week or so. It would look worse to be fired before your first day on the job.
