Mo Alie Cox has been charged with assault and battery for allegedly hitting a girl in the face. Innocent until proven guilty, but a big black eye and distraction none the less. Coupled with a couple of prized recruits de- committing and a top freshman leaving, the new coach will have his work cut out for him.

Consecutive sellout streak is in serious jeopardy.

Consecutive sellout streak is in serious jeopardy.

And VCU fans will turn on the new coach pretty quickly if things don't go well the first season. That program is in a precarious spot right now.
From an eligibility standpoint, they've lost:
Traveon Graham
Briante Weber
Jared Guest

From returning players, they've lost:
Terry Larrier, their highest rated recruit from a year ago (4 stars)

From projected incoming players, they've lost their entire three-man class, one of the top 25 recruiting classes in the country, as I recall.

And now this with Cox.

They've since added a transfer from Oral Roberts, rated two stars, and got a commit from another freshman, also rated two stars.

The mighty have certainly fallen on some hard times.
Now might be a good time to schedule a home and home with them.
Only takes one bad hire, and we don't even know if this guy is a bad hire, yet.

Imagine stringing together two or three...

Who needs to imagine!
He might be a good coach, but talent reigns supreme in basketball. They're leaking oil at that moment and their recruiting profile has really dropped. They also have a very young coaching staff.

Will be interesting to see what unfolds in any event.
I hope they get Keener'd and Dillard'd

VCU's new coach was rumored to be getting the Charlotte job. He even had his own cheerleader on our board saying it was a done deal and that we were all stupid.

We ended up not offering him the job and instead hired Mark Price from the Hornets.

Will Wade's camp spun it that he backed out because we weren't committed to bringing quality opponents to Charlotte. Since 2008, we've had:

- Miami (twice)
- Georgia Tech (twice)
- Clemson
- Tennessee
- Florida State
- Georgetown (2015)

Getting power conference teams to play you at home is difficult and I think we've done a fair job--better than most mid major programs. Some of those games were at the NBA arena in town, which definitely helps us relative to other mid major programs.

Wade was very unprofessional when he was not hired, so now we have a running joke on the Niner board where we refer to VCU's plight as WAIDS.

Man, in the old days a comment like this would have resulted in a dozen VCU trolls immediately responding. I kind of miss it.

Bit of a mini dumpster fire over at Richmond's other team. Nelson- Ododo graduated and announced he's leaving. This is on top of losing their two best freshman recruits earlier in the off season. If there was a visual of mid major Virginia programs George Mason, VCU and Richmond would all have an arrow pointing down and ODU would have an arrow pointing up. I believe JMU's arrow is pointing up as well.
ODU just picked up a 4-star transfer from Illinois....he's got ties to Chesapeake. He's a 6-9 PF.

Has there been any confirmation about an ODU-JMU series starting this season? As you said it seems like both our programs are pointed up (doesn't JMU have a bunch of Juniors for 15/16?) making a home & home mutually beneficial in addition to fun for the fans.
At the Fairfax Coaches Caravan on Tuesday night Coach Brady said they were talking with ODU but nothing definite yet.

He did say that GMU will be visiting the Convo this coming season and JMU at the Patriot Center the next.

He also stated he met with JTIII at another event and he was talking with him about trying to setup a game or so with Georgetown but just preliminary talks at this point.

It possibly could be announced prior to June 1....
There are no plans to play ODU this year.
Another rivalry wasted by getting left behind in the CAA
