The AAC has the third ranked baseball conference in the nation. SEC number one and the ACC number two. I expect the AAC to overtake the ACC in the next few years and CBS Sports to increase next years AAC broadcasts to 30 games per year. Houston,Central Florida,Tulane,South Florida,U Conn,Cincinnati,East Carolina and Memphis moving up quickly in national rankings and rpi.

Why do you expect (not suspect, hope, wish or desire) the bolded portion to occur?

Congrats to the AAC on the deal. Anything that promotes college baseball is great by me.

Don't feed the troll. That's why.

The American Athletic Conference has reached an agreement with CBS Sports Network on a multi-year television package, beginning with the 2015 season. CBS Sports Network will air seven games in 2015, including five regular season games and the first two contests of the 2015 American Athletic Conference Baseball Championship.

The first of five regular-season games to be televised on CBS Sports Network will be Saturday, April 25, when USF hosts Houston at USF Baseball Stadium in Tampa. The Bulls have recorded two wins over top-25 teams this season, while Houston has been ranked as high as No. 3 in the Baseball America poll this season.

Houston will also be featured in the second and third games of the package, as the Cougars will travel to Tulane for a game at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium on Friday, May 1, and host East Carolina at Cougar Field in Houston Saturday, May 9. The two conference newcomers have combined for 45 NCAA Regional appearances in their programs' histories.

The final two regular-season games of the agreement will be in-state clashes between UCF and USF at USF Baseball Stadium in Tampa on Thursday, May 14 and Friday, May 15. The Knights have been ranked as high as No. 6 in the Baseball America poll this season and feature an offense that ranks in the top 10 nationally in numerous offensive categories.
So now that the AAC will have some exposure in baseball with CBS Sports going forward, if UConn or Cincy get televised home games in future years can we Big West or WCC schools start claiming unfair advantage? 05-stirthepot

No. They will rely on the Jim Delany rule: "All of our advantages are fair; all of your advantages are unfair and must be eliminated."
I wonder if there will be any pressure from within to put a team back together at Temple. Or, maybe someone in the media will ask the president if the school will, and hopefully use the answer, positive or negative, to get the guy to admit the cuts were done to spare that ailing football program.
Sounds awesome for the 22,000 folks watching nationwide. LOL at the OP thinking the AAC will move ahead of the ACC.
There's no mention how much CBS is paying to air these games (I assume they are paying something). It would be interesting to see how much value networks assign to college baseball.

Agreed.

That said, I think there are teams, stadiums/atmosphere's, and match ups all around the country that could get college baseball on tv more often...

Several of these venues are undoubtedly in Northern climates and would get a lot of tv play. Ya know, since weather isn't much of a factor these days

Zero and makes no sense to. Would much rather add men's lacrosse.

Had nothing to do with the (thriving) football program.

Exactly what advantage does the Big Ten enjoy that is not enjoyed by ACC, SEC, BigXII, Pac12?

I just surprised the ACC is the #2 conference

Standings (RPI added)

Atlantic
(14) #2 Louisville 21-3
(7) #8 Florida St 16-8
(73) Clemson 13-13
(48) Notre Dame 12-12
(55) NC State 11-12
(72) Wake Forest 11-13
(58) Boston College 9-17

Coastal
(3) #13 Miami 19-8
(24) #24 North Carolina 13-10
(57) Virginia Tech 12-14
(26) Georgia Tech 11-13
(36) Virginia 10-14
(60) Duke 7-16
(184) Pittsburgh 6-18

I thought it was a horrible year for the conference in baseball. Louisville is killing it but only 4 teams are ranked. Usually it's about 7.

Wedge isn't talking about Big Ten advantages vis a vis the other P5 conferences per se. If I'm reading my fellow west coaster correctly, it's more of a reference to the Big Ten vs poorer southern and western conferences. How Delaney might say our weather advantage for baseball is unfair, whereas the advantages Big Ten schools have built in for every other sport is legitimate.

No, we're not starting that debate about weather again. Just saying I think that is partly what Wedge is referring to.

I'm guessing the money saved from cutting baseball, men's track and softball was spread around to the other programs. Even if the lion's share went to football, it probably wouldn't have made much impact. Regardless, Temple is still in good shape with 18 sports (7 men's, 11 women's).
I do not think any large money for AAC television contract for AAC college baseball but it gives the AAC great national exposure. I wish SMU would create a baseball program.

You do realize that it is a ridiculous comparison to pit the B1G versus ONLY the financially disadvantaged schools right?

"Thriving" programs get to stay home during the holidays when others with .500 records don't?

Men's lacrosse would be a tough sell. I'm not sure where they'd end up. CAA might stiff them because of Drexel, and they needn't apply to the Big East, Ivy, and NEC. Maybe America East or SoCon, but one's not quite out of the woods yet, and the other would put a significant travel stressor onto the program.
