Add another accolade to Jaelan Sanford’s growing list of accomplishments.

Sanford, who helped spark Reitz High School to its second boys’ basketball state championship game appearance in school history, was named an Indiana All-Star on Monday.

“It means a lot to me, considering they are saying this is the toughest year to pick because of how much talent there is in the class of 2015,” said Sanford, a 6-foot-3 guard who signed with the University of Toledo. “To be an Indiana All-Star is every player’s dream.”

Sanford averaged 20.7 points in leading Reitz to a 29-2 record; the Panthers also placed second at state in 1951. Sanford was named first-team all-state by The Associated Press and finished as the Panthers’ career scoring leader with 1,544 points, sixth on the City’s all-time list. He is the first Southern Indiana Athletic Conference player to be named an Indiana All-Star since Castle’s Blake Simmons in 2013, the first Evansville player since Harrison’s Kendal Brown in 2009 and the first Reitz player to be honored since Darren Cloud in 2005.

The Indiana All-Stars will play against the Junior All-Stars on June 8 at Richmond and June 10 at Columbus North and in games against the Kentucky All-Stars on June 12 at Transylvania University in Lexington and June 13 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
