And in case you're wondering, the NCAA championships for both men and women are at Baylor this year, May 14-25 (team championships first, followed by the singles and doubles championships).
Are the women automatically qualified by virtue of conference tournament championship?
Where do the men stand?
Yes, the women are in the tournament via winning conference. I think they are solid #2 seed.
Will have to see how rankings shape up and how teams fare in other conference tournaments, but here are the rankings of regional teams from last week.
7 Texas A&M University (lost in SEC quarterfinals to LSU)
8 Baylor University
10 Oklahoma State University
15 Texas Tech University
19 TCU
24 LSU (lost in SEC semifinals)
29 University of Houston (AAC runner-up)
30 Rice University (CUSA Champions)
31 University of Texas
We were at Baylor last year (#2 seed), sent to Stanford in 2013 (#2 seed) and Ole Miss in 2012 (#3 seed).

How do the Rice men look compared to those who could get into the tourney field as at-large selections?

I don't think they can make it. Only two teams with losing records made the field of 64 last year. Cal Poly (11-12) and Idaho (11-13), however, they had automatic bids via winning their conference. Rice is 12-14.

So we're #2 seed playing Tulsa in the first round. The team seemed pretty pleased with the bracket.
Rice beat Tulsa on March 8th, 4-0.
Baylor beat Rice on Feb. 13th, 4-0 and March 25th, 4-0.
We were also at Baylor last year.
