Thought I'd start a new thread as we head toward the home stretch:

1). Willie Mangum all but announced on his Twitter he'll be signing today.

2). I understand LaMonta Stone II made a thorough thoughtful decision with his father. I don't see anything out of left field happening.

3). I'm following Lamar Wofford to see if he Tweets anything. He might be a commit, but what I read from KWard isn't definitive.

4). I have a Tweet out to Prep Hoops Michigan on Xavier Cochran, Joevair Kennedy, Lacey James and Brett Hibbitts. I assume we have interest in at least two of them. They have an article time stamped at 10:30 today on the latest commits. Nothing pertinent to EMU.

5). I'll try to follow the Twitters of our other possible recruits mentioned by verbalcommits.com. (Shakir Brown has visited Mo. State and has a new offer from UNC-Charlotte).

6). Another excellent source: Twitter: @therecruitscoop. Alex Kline literally Tweets offers, commits, and transfers literally all hours of the day.

As we know, signings are usually 'dribbled' (pun intended) out by recruits via their Twitter accounts... Most gladly share their good news with others.
Steve, that looks like a long list of Small Forwards. Although Lacey James might be better suited as a power forward. Are there any decent front court players out there? Or are those always the first to go?

Just scary that EMUs front court currently consists of Nazione, Samuels (foul prone), and Nobles (question mark). That is the thinnest front court I have ever seen at EMU.

Lacey James is a PF. EMU has not been mentioned for him. No one can figure out why, though.

Lamar Wofford might be a PF in the Murphy scheme.

I agree we are very thin up front.
Andrew (Eastern Echo) has the following Tweet indicating Wofford is on board:

"

Butler CC JUCO forward Lamar Wofford-Humphrey (@Lamgetbuckets35) has signed with @EMUHoops (cc @VerbalCommits)"

Lamar is the 3rd member of the recruiting class.

Two more open scholarships.
Good news, thanks Steve. Is Wofford a good pick up? Obviously, I'll take anything to firm up the front court, so not being picky.
I can guarantee you Lacey James is not going to EMU.

Agree. I should not have listed James or Hibbitts as there is no reason that they and EMU belong in the same sentence.

Cochran and Kennedy are the ones of concern. I know Kennedy Tweeted that he'd love to go to Michigan State with Deyonta Davis. Walk-on candidate?????

BTW, have we moved on and gone with Mangum (rather than Kennedy)?
Two questions:

Do we have confirmation of Stone signing yet? I'm curious whether his dad is interviewing for the now open Bowling Green job since he was an assistant there.

Wofford looks like a sleeper to me. I think Mangum will surprise some people averaging 20 in a tough Div I JUCO Texas league is tougher than some would imagine. did Wofford have any other Div I offers?

Love to get the two bigs from the same prep school: Ogide and Maurice.

BG job is filled.

I have no idea if LaMonta Stone I is a candidate for an asst coach job at any school.

He certainly has a D-I pedigree.
Lamar Wofford-Humphrey posted on Murphy's twitter and is excited about coming here to EMU. Verbalcommits has confirmed his signing as well.

Interesting on the same Butler team is Kyle Steward who is also a sophomore at 6'7 and started and played high school hoops at Detroit Cass Tech.

Here are the 2013/14 stat lines for Youngstown State, which has 3 former or current transferees:

Kyle Steward, Jalon Plummer, and Larry Johnson Jr.

Plummer and Johnson played at YSU during 2014/15 with limited results.

I'll check (later) Lamar's Butler JUCO stats. vs. Steward's.

Steward would make sense, leaving one scholarship for a pure center.
Nothing terribly new or profound, but we've seemed to have passed the 'high school' phase. Any h.s. seniors wanting to sign with EMU should have or should soon do it. Why wait? Wait for what?

Next we are in the JUCO phase: Coaches go to those JUCO tourneys in mid-March and look for players to fill 'holes' in their roster. He have two.

Now the transfers and graduate eligible transfers. These names continue to 'dribble' out everyday. This is a very fluid area. All of a sudden bingo someone might announce that a school really would be interested in...

I would guess by the end of April we'll have signed any JUCOs we are interested.

Then transfers in May or June...
Having said that Grayer, Clyburn and Cochrane haven't signed ANYWHERE yet, maybe hoping for a B10 offer?

What about the two prep school players? They haven't signed yet as well.

In terms of "known" jucos I have Toney, Brown and maybe the center from Mott as possible candidates.

I've heard from a few that the amount of uncommitted high school seniors at this time is really surprising.

i dont have any info re: these specific players, but it could be grades/test scores.
Maurice is taking an official to Kansas St this weekend already had one official to UTEP. Don't know about Ogide and his official visit schedule.

Like to see some preps and more mix of high school to balance the classes.

Any confirmation on Stone signing?

Be easier to get info out of CIA or NSA then on Cochran. This one has been so incredibly quiet.

EDIT: MLive.com has lists of recruits. They list 13 (1 - 3) schools for Cochran. Oh, my.

I'm still very interested on the center Ogbide (sp). We MUST get a center.

This is a BIG weekend for visits across the land. Last weekend was a AAU evaluation weekend (I was told hundreds of coaches in Hampton). This weekend schools will host recruits. Next weekend will be another big AAU evaluation weekend.

Maybe something might break later this weekend???
So Stone is not confirmed yet, huh? I guess we'll see... It will be real nice to see him at EMU next year. I don't blame kids for holding out on committing, at least in certain situations.

He's committed, just not signed. You don't need to sign an LOI to attend school and earn a scholarship.

His header photo on twitter is the Convo floor. I don't think there is anything to worry about.

That actually sounds very reassuring!!

Now let's get some centers!

Or signed just not publicly announced.
