Dothan Eagle reports UAB at Troy Thursday, November 19th... probably our first freakin' road trip of the fall. Thanks for nothing, Watts. Nothing like a Thursday night in Pike County.
Oh, I'll be there. Beating the snot out of Troy will never get old. Plus, taking over their arena is fun & their new arena will need to see what a real basketball program looks like, fans and all.

Does Watts make the whole BBall schedule? Or just the inconvenient games?
No, he made sure there were no football road trips in 2015 prior to the basketball season. Thanks for playing, though.

Watts did not set up the basketball schedule. I can assure you.
I'm glad we are playing Troy. An early season cupcake on the road will help us build confidence. We need as many winnable road games as possible.

We can take our football frustrations on them also..
I'm okay with this game. We need to learn to win on the road, and even though Troy isn't a good team, a win against them on the road is worth much more than a win at home. At this point we know we have the following at least:

Emerald coast classic(Illinois, and I'm assuming Chattanooga, Alabama state, Chicago state, or Jacksonville state at home)
@troy
@usf
@illinois state

For rpi purposes, this isn't a bad start. Hopefully we can add a couple more teams like lsu and UNC from last year's schedule. It also may be easier to get some decent opponents to agree to play us now that we are coming off a tournament win. Our OOC schedule is going to play a big role in what our final numbers look like next year. We played rpi 2, 9, 39, 53, 65, and 69 OOC last year and still wound up with an sos of 96 thanks to the overall power of CUSA.
I've got no problems playing Troy on the road, it'll help our RPI. Just wish the game was on a Saturday.

It seems you totally missed his point.

He was blaming Watts for that being the first UAB road trip in the fall (as in no football road trips).

So is this a basketball thread or just another football thread?

Besides, soccer will have road games before then.

It's the same threads we'll have until November. Really pointless to even try and discuss basketball on the main thread.
It may or may not be tied to football but this series was in talks before we lost Football.
Let's not forget we will be playing two of the following as part of the ECC in Bartow Arena like we did last year as part of the tourney.

11/19-11/24 Home games (Emerald Coast Classic; 1st & 2nd Rounds) against two of (Alabama State, Chattanooga, Chicago State, Jacksonville State)

I would like to see Chattanooga as one of those opponents. We owe them some payback.
Doesn't Chattanooga owe us a game at Bartow anyway, since we played there last year. Would we play two home games against them?
We were returning a game we owed them. .We beat them in Bartow 2013-14 season
You guys missed my point.

Some fans travel for at least one football game a season. I had already made plans for my family to travel to Nashville for the UAB/UT opener.

Watts ruined my plans to see UAB play in an exciting road game, the first of the fall season. Instead of Nashville & the Vols, I get Pike County and the Trojans.

Does everyone understand now?

I love UAB Basketball. I've attended nearly every home game since 2000 & I've been to at least one game a year since 1981. But kicking off my fall UAB fandom with basketball has not been a habit for me since 1996.
Bingo. We had plans too! Whole family was going. Now I am going to Pike Co on a Thursday night. It will suck because I will have to be in Huntsville by 7 the next morning.

Some of us idiotically thought the thread was about basketball, not football based on the title. Silly us. We should have realized that this is the FireRayWatts board.

I forgot about that game.
