I learned from my sources last night that something really big is about to go down. They got their info from an unimpeachable source (whose name, they tell me, rhymes with Biko).

Sometime in the near future, the State of Connecticut will announce that is has agreed to annex parts of the State of New York, including Westchester County, New York City and Long Island. While denying that athletics played any role in this decision, there will be subsequent announcements that the Big Ten has invited the flagship of this reconfigured state, UConn (now contiguous with their footprint) as a full member, and that Madison Square Garden will sign a long-term pact to host the Big Ten basketball tournament.

The move will allow the Big Ten to acquire the PAC 12 in its entirety, and then add Kansas. That final piece of the puzzle will give the 28 team B1G Conference a contiguous footprint from coast to coast.

Details about divisional arrangements will be sorted out later. Suffice it to say, the result will be an 8 team conference tournament, culminating in a championship game in the Rose Bowl on New Year's Day.

It was Uncle Rico wasn't it? Bet he told you right after he threw a football over that mountain.
Blockbuster? I thought this was somehow gonna be about Blockbuster Video being bought out by someone like NetFlix and reorganized (e.g. realigned). Either that or one of the stores would be reorganized.

I think the word you're looking for is "resurrected". A common mistake.
My sources are now telling me that there is a side deal being discussed, in which Connecticut will agree to sell Staten Island to New Jersey for $24 worth of beads, settling a long festering border dispute. No word on whether Ellis Island would be included in this deal.

That could work too the point is the store would be realigned or changed around.

Ellis Island is already part of New Jersery, and New Connecticut can keep Staten Island.
Was this an attempt at humor or are you really just that bored?
Whoever leaked this should be scared of anyone who asks to take them fishing.

I thought Liberty Island was in NJ, not EI?

It's amazing how much you can learn from the internet. Apparently, neither are owned by New Jersey (or New York, either). Both Ellis Island and Liberty Island (formerly known as Bedloe's Island) are owned by the Federal government. Parts of Ellis Island are administered but not owned by both New Jersey and New York. The Supreme Court sorted this out a few years ago. Part of the problem stemmed from the fact that so much of Ellis Island was formed by reclaiming land from wetlands. That land mass didn't exist at the time the various treaties establishing the New York/New Jersey border were drawn up.
That's pretty crucial for the sake of all those tourist dollars.
