Jabo said that 5 BOT members contacted him & wanted to meet with him.

They met with him last week.

Very interesting interview with Jabo. He met with Bryant Jr, Karen Brooks, Johnny Johns, Britt Sexton, and John McMahon in Bham on Friday at their request to discuss his bill. He asked them to take ownership of the bill, but they declined and are instead opposing the bill via the lobbying firm Fine Geddie. It's interesting to see John McMahon in this group fighting BOT reform. He always seemed like one of the few trustees we had in our corner. He openly endorsed the OCS.
I wonder who's paying Fine Geddie?
It will be paid out of the green and gold fund.

This may be the point where Jack/Jabo and co start playing real hardball. If you oppose this bill, we will insure no state money is parked at Bryant Bank, place holds on trustee nominations, ask the AG to review UA's cash deposit practices for links to board members, pass limits on the ways UAT can pay lobbyists to lobby the legislature, and as I've mentioned before, there is the nuclear option of filibustering, freezing or rejecting university budgets

I'll guarantee if the tables were turned turds like Sen Dial would do it to us. To those who say it can't be done, folks told my father in law the lid bill (property tax limits) wouldn't fly when he started pushing it. It passed the next session. A good lobbyist and a few committed legislators can stir a lot of crap by freezing the process
I'd imagine the meeting went along these lines - Jabo was marched before the almighty & was instructed to withdraw the bill or else...

The names of the 5 are very significant to the problem
Scarbinsky and Archibald will hopefully get on this. Why oppose an equal representation BOT? What possible defense can there be for not having equal representation?

And why is Bryant Jr meeting with him? Isn't his term up now?

That is the Trustee's Anti-Green and Gold Fund.

From what I understand, a trustee that turns 70 has their term expire the annual meeting following the 70th birthday. Which would mean Bryant is still a trustee until September.

Yep. Bryant, Brooks, and Johns are obvious. From what I've heard, Sexton is the most likely to assume the power vacuum once Bryant formally leaves the Board. Disappointed that McMahon was involved with this group.
It is easy to appear one way & behind closed doors act another way.
There are no trustees in our corner; there never were any. I heard one of them tell our some of our people "they heard us" during the stadium debacle in 2010. When this all went down on December 2nd, 2014, I thought McMahon and Judge England were on our side. It is not big surprise that they are not with us.

I saw England being interviewed on Fox6 news that day; he was sniveling like a child that had been taken to the principle's office and paddled. He said it was done and there was nothing to do about it; we needed to pull together and move on. That I when I knew the weak willed, dishonorable John England was a lost cause.

All of those trustees (if that isn't a misnomer, I do not know what is) are weak, dishonorable, gutless, selfish creatures that cannot be trusted. They only seek to hold on to their power and will do everything to keep it. The BoT called the meeting with Jabo to gauge where they stand in Montgomery. They are bringing in the sleazy mercenaries of Fine/Geddie to do their dirty work.
I think there are some that would have our best interests at heart just like UAH's if they had any power or say in the matter but they don't, that power & say resides all w/ a few that control things & the others are just token appointments to meet some kind of diversity requirement. England is a token but I'd think after what they did to his daughter, he would have done something if he had any power or say

A person can justify ANYTHING...

The money is not on our side. People? Yep. Rightousness? Uh huh. Money? When elephants fly.
If the "Fine" in "Fine Geddie" is Joe Fine, his name should be familiar to Blazer fans since it was his BOT Committee (he was its chairman) that made "Black Friday" happen. He is not on the BOT now, but he is still a major attack dog in their kennel lobbying Montgomery for more UA funding.
