...it worked out, and continues to work out extremely well. So well that the Kansas Jayhawks, among others, are taking a look at him!

Last time we hired an NBA player with no college coaching experience things didn't work out very well, in fact it was a disaster. I wonder if Wally will remember these things when and if he writes about the hire? Probably not, in his eyes being his pal trumps all.
Bo Ryan was a very successful Division Three coach for a number of years. I've heard people say that if you can coach, you can coach at any level. Of course college coaching requires some other attributes like recruiting and helping kids graduate, unless you're a one and done school. I'll be thrilled if Coach Beard runs a motion offense like Coach Foley. He was with Bobby Knight for ten years, so he must have learned the system. I wonder if Coach Foley was on the search committee. I believe he was on the AD search committee. Maybe the Bobby Knight connection was what got him the job.

My guess is that his success as a coach got him the job!
