Don't know who this guy is, but someone needs to shut him up

Quote:How long will Alabama go without a new head coach? Gregg Marshall and Richard Pitino essentially both said “thanks, but no thanks.” The search for the new Tide coach reminds me of Oregon’s search four years ago. It took 39 days before the Ducks hired Dana Altman. I’d say that worked out. The best option for Bama may be right up the road with UAB’s Jerod Haase.
I've been curious if they would actually consider going after him or if the BOT would tell them to stay away due to the current situation. I assume they are going to stay away whether they want him or not.
I heard something that caught my attention this morning while listening to Gregg Marshall on Mike and Mike. He made a comment that AD Battle and people from the BOT were nothing but complete gentlemen to him during this whole process.

Why was the BOT involved in recruiting Marshall for the Bama coaching job? Is this a common practice with them?
They take everything else from us as they think it's theirs anyway so he may not be that far off base at least as far as UAT in concerned. Haase may not but it wouldn't surprise me one bit if they go after him w/ the blessing of Watts & Co
If I were Haase I would stay put and win some more with this young team, then watch my coaching stock rise. In other words, I don't see Haase leaving for the next few years.

Bama would hire a up and coming female coach before they looked at Haase. Too much pride to do such a thing. And it would not be the type of attention the BOT would seek at the moment considering everything that is going on with UAB Athletics and Watts.
I doubt Haase would take the bama job with everything that has gone down. Plus if it happened, then it would stir up the #freeuab movement and give more credence to our claims of interference. Maybe it will eventually force the NCAA get involved. You know boosters of another school controlling our school.
I really doubt anyone in the UA AD office is unaware of BBHC Haase and what he has accomplished at UAB. As Battle and company work their way down the coaching "food chain", they will hear more about Haase from their own money people. Those in the UA AD office are probably as fond of the idea of hiring him as they are any other UAB head coach. They still have a few names on their list before total desperation sets in.
They'd take Louisiana Tech's coach before they would take UAB's, and they consider Mike White beneath them. I think he'd be a great hire, but after all the "splash hire" and "Sabanesque coaching hire" talk, the bammers would split a gut over it.

Hiring UAB's coach would be as bad or worse, and carries the risk of the BoT being crucified over raiding our recently extended coach to boot.

No way.

It did my heart good to see that Richard Pitino joined the list of those who said "Ummm, thanks, but no thanks."
Alabama is not a desirable job. Why would anyone want to coach there.
I can think of from 4.2 to 4.9 million reasons.
That was a Gregg Marshall price tag. Not a Michael White or Prohm price tag. I'm guessing if they go with someone like those coaches, the price will be 1.5 - 2.0 mil. They pay more to make it feel like they got a big name coach.
Do they want to see Tuscaloosa burned down?

What he said. Since Haase makes $1 million Alabama has to make at least $1.5 million since they are the better basketball school.

Well, sounds like he is a guy without a clue about the state of Alabama.
I'm surprised that haven't attempted to get Steve Kerr of the Golden State Warriors. Just kidding.

I too am tickled UAT is being turned down by coaches.

If they wanted Haase, they would come calling. They enjoy stepping on UAB. However, they don't want Haase from little UAB. Well, unless they are looking to close down UAB's basketball program too. After all, all that really matters is getting a good education and job.
They upped the ante of the price tag for their coach without even knowing it by giving Haase a good raise.

They could have hired Prohm for $1 million and nobody would have thought twice about it.

It is getting close to the point though where there isn't anyone out there who warrants a $1 million salary for them.

I think you underestimate much SEC coaches make. No way they were going to cut the salary they were paying Grant in half.

John Calipari KY $6.5 mil
Billy Donovan FL $4.4 mil
Bruce Pearl AU $2.7 mil
Frank Martin USC $2.1 mil
Anthony Grant (fired) UA $1.9 mil
Andy Kennedy Miss $1.8 mil
Mark Fox UGA $1.6 mil
Donnie Tyndall (fired) UT $1.6 mil
Mike Anderson Ark $1.5 mil
Kim Anderson Missouri $1.2 mil
Johnny Jones LSU $1.1 mil
Billy Kennedy Tx A&M $1.0 mil
Rick Ray (fired) MSU $250,000 (wow. Lowballed)
Kevin Stallings Vandy - unavailable.

Howland is reportedly getting 2.05 million at Miss St.

Barnes is reportedly getting 2.25 million at Tennessee.
Looking at that, one would guess that Alabama really would like to pay a coach $3 million to go there to make it appear that the coach is better than Pearl.
